An overview of this role

As a Senior Stock Administrator, you'll own the day-to-day administration of GitLab's global equity programs so GitLab team members can clearly understand, access, and benefit from their equity. You'll keep data accurate across our equity systems (including Equity Edge Online), partner closely with People Operations, Legal, Payroll, Finance, and Accounting, and support compliance with US and non-US tax and reporting requirements. Reporting to the Senior Director, Stock Administration, you'll help mature and scale our equity operations across restricted stock units (RSUs), performance stock units (PSUs), and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP). Over your first year, you'll streamline processes, improve reporting and team member education, and strengthen audit readiness in a rigorous external audit environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Administer GitLab's global equity programs by processing restricted stock unit (RSU) and performance stock unit (PSU) share releases, Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) activity, and other equity transactions accurately and on time.

  • Maintain and reconcile equity data in Equity Edge Online and related systems to ensure complete, audit-ready records for all plan participants.

  • Prepare equity reports, supporting schedules, and documentation for stock-based compensation journal entries and account reconciliations in partnership with Finance and Accounting.

  • Support Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance by documenting processes and controls, running required reports, and responding to audit requests with clear, detailed support.

  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to complete equity testing, address control deficiencies, and implement SOX remediation and process improvements.

  • Partner with People Operations, Legal, Payroll, Finance, and external advisors to coordinate equity-related activities and support accurate payroll, tax, and accounting outcomes for vesting and purchase events.

  • Educate and support GitLab team members by answering equity questions and creating clear communications and training on program mechanics and timelines.

  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc equity reporting and analysis for internal partners and leadership to support planning, forecasting, and compensation decisions.

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience supporting global equity programs, including restricted stock units (RSUs), performance stock units (PSUs), and Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) administration.

  • Background in public accounting or audit environments with direct exposure to equity compensation testing, internal controls, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance.

  • Ability to prepare clear audit documentation and workpapers that substantiate stock-based compensation calculations, assumptions, and supporting detail.

  • Knowledge of stock-based compensation accounting and equity-related payroll and tax processes, including coordination across US and non-US requirements.

  • Experience maintaining and reconciling equity records in Equity Edge Online (or similar equity administration platforms) and producing period-end, audit-ready reporting.

  • Proven ability to partner effectively with cross-functional teams (People Operations, Legal, Payroll, Finance, Accounting) and external advisors to deliver accurate outcomes.

  • Strong communication, organization, and analytical skills, with comfort managing multiple priorities and responding to plan participant and leadership reporting requests.

  • Demonstrated discretion handling sensitive information, with familiarity with privacy expectations such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR); transferable experience welcomed.

About the team

The Stock Administration team at GitLab is responsible for the accurate, compliant, and efficient operation of our global equity programs, including stock options, restricted stock units (RSUs), performance stock units (PSUs), and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP). You'll join a small, specialized group, and you'll partner closely with People Operations, Legal, Payroll, Finance, and Accounting, working in an all-remote, asynchronous environment across multiple time zones. Our focus is maintaining high-quality equity data and controls, supporting audit readiness in a rigorous external audit environment, and helping GitLab team members understand and confidently use their equity while we navigate evolving US and non-US tax, reporting, and disclosure requirements as GitLab grows. You'll need to be available during US stock market hours.

How GitLab will support you

  • Flexible Paid Time Off

  • Team Member Resource Groups

  • Equity Compensation & Employee Stock Purchase Plan

  • Growth and Development Fund
