At HubSpot we’re passionate about building tools that help small and medium-sized businesses market, sell, and serve their customers — and ultimately, grow better. Those tools end up in the HubSpot application platform, which itself is made up of thousands of services, workers, and jobs spanning over 400 teams and thousands of repos. Our teams work to deploy these systems across a common infrastructure, thousands of times a day.
As HubSpot has grown, reliability and stability have become just as important as speed and time to market. And as we’ve opened up our APIs, our product has moved to the core of many of our customers’ and partners’ businesses.
The Monitoring team within Platform Infrastructure is dedicated to providing a powerful monitoring & alerting experience to help our product teams focus on delivering highly available and dependable products - the metrics leg of the observability stool. Over the years, the team has experimented with on and off-stack solutions, various vendors, and many ways of providing tooling and automation at scale, while handling some of the highest volume data throughputs and tightest latency constraints at HubSpot. We are looking to grow the team by hiring engineers with an interest in observability, reliability and scale, who can help us continuously innovate and find new ways to reduce cognitive load, improve reliability, and let our team ship software faster and safer.
What you’ll do
Maintain and build a suite of tools focused on enabling and improving incident response and remediation
Conceive, design, and build resilient infrastructure tooling that delights engineers that engage with it
Proactively identify risks and advocate for engineering process, tooling, or work streams that reduce that risk in a customer centric way
Collaborate within and beyond the team to define and improve monitoring and alerting best practices
What we’re looking for
Experience with Software Engineering
Experience designing and operating distributed systems and cloud infrastructure at scale
Experience working collaboratively with other engineering teams
Interest in or experience with metric timeseries data
Interest in or experience with monitoring/alerting best practices
An empathetic, customer-first mindset
