Senior Software Engineer - Hosting

The Community You Will Join:

The Ambassadors team supports the Airbnb vision of ‘everyone can become a Host’ by connecting new prospective hosts with Superhost Ambassadors who can help mentor them through their first booking. We focus on activating and onboarding hosts with the help of these Superhost Ambassadors so that they can provide unique and high quality accommodations, and provide the tools and support Ambassadors need to help manage the new Hosts their helping.

The Difference You Will Make:

We are looking for experienced ML engineers to help us build a delightful personalized user experience in every stage of the Host-to-Ambassador relationship. You will partner closely with our data science, product partners, and other ML + data engineers on the team to execute on these opportunities in order to make a significant impact on our Host community around the world.

Your day-to-day responsibilities includes:

• Implement first class user flows that provide intuitive and reliable pathways for Hosts to connect with Ambassadors to help list their space

• Introduce and iterate on tools necessary for Ambassadors to manage and support the Hosts they’re helping

• Build pipelines and ML models to enable targeted and personalized connections between Hosts and Ambassadors.

• Invest and support the Host Resource Center, Community Center, and other educational opportunities that set Hosts up for success

• Build foundational frameworks to enable marketing and operations to leverage various user-facing surface areas to better promote new Ambassador offerings

Your Expertise:

• 6+ years industry experience in applied Machine Learning, with experience in both Natural Language Processing and Computer Vision

• A Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in CS/ML or related field

• Deep understanding of Machine Learning best practices (eg. training/serving skew minimization, A/B test, feature engineering, feature/model selection), algorithms (eg. gradient boosted trees, neural networks/deep learning, optimization, state-of-art NLP and CV algorithms) and domains (eg. natural language processing, computer vision, personalization and recommendation, anomaly detection)

• Industry experience building end-to-end and productionizing Machine Learning models

• Exposure to architectural patterns of a large, high-scale software applications (e.g., well-designed APIs, high volume data pipelines, efficient algorithms, models)

• Passion for delivering products end-to-end, from ideation through planning and scoping to implementation and experimental A/B testing

• Solid engineering, coding, and data engineering skills.

• Experience or desire to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams with design, product, data science, and research partners.

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager.
