The CRM Engineering team builds world-class tools that drive growth and foster meaningful relationships between Airbnb and its community, including Hosts, Guests, Law Enforcement, Government Regulators, Local Community Leaders, and more. This team tackles some of the most challenging and unique problems faced by our business. Here are a few examples:
Growth Platform: Designed to increase supply and retain existing hosts.
Policy Platform: Enables Airbnb to engage with regulatory bodies across the globe regarding short-term rental regulations. This platform tracks regulations that impact the Airbnb business and provides intelligence to address unique business challenges.
Community Platform: Establishes a social platform to drive community enablement, collaboration, and success.
Agent Tools: Empowers agents to understand and resolve issues that customers are unable to address on their own.
Aircover Claims Platform: Facilitates the processing of claims for Aircover insurance products, offering protection to both hosts and guests.
The Difference You Will Make:
You will build the social platform that connects Airbnb's millions of hosts worldwide. The Community Platform enables hosts to share knowledge, collaborate locally, and build meaningful relationships that strengthen the global host community.
Your work will directly shape how hosts discover content, engage with their local communities, and find support from peers. You will design scalable backend systems that power real-time social features, and build intelligent capabilities such as AI-powered content moderation and personalized feed ranking. The platform you help build will serve geographic-based host communities with features including events, direct messaging, search, and notifications - all at Airbnb scale.
A Typical Day:
Work cross-functionally with product, design, and other engineering counterparts to execute on product and business strategy to build novel products and features.
Drive, lead, and contribute to the full development cycle: technical design, development, test, experimentation, analysis, and launch. You’ll be reviewing code and design docs, giving feedback on product specs and mocks.
Provide critical input in team roadmap and technical direction.
Your Expertise:
6+ years of experience with a BS/Masters or 4+ years with a PhD
Experience building & launching high-impact systems
3 years of experience with design and architecture; and testing/launching software products.
Previous experience with domain driven design and context mapping
You are a full-cycle developer: strong ownership and experience building and operating high-scale, distributed systems across the full software life cycle.
You have excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team and across engineering teams.
You are a strong problem solver and have solid production debugging skills.
End-to-end “big picture” perspective that connects technical decisions to real user impact
Good judgment in making tradeoffs to balance short-term business needs with long-term technical quality
Your Location:
This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager.
