The team

Join our Compliance Technology team and contribute to compliant, safe and mainstream adoption of cryptocurrencies. The Compliance Technology team is focused on building the best in class Reg Tech tools that mitigate regulatory risk, optimize cost and build a leading Compliance program. 

Our Compliance Technology team includes data analysts, data scientists, software engineers, product managers and project managers working together to build, maintain and upgrade various Compliance systems and tools. This team brings a unique blend of creativity, technical skills and Compliance knowhow. The team members are located in seven countries in four different continents.

The opportunity

  • Review business requirements document from Compliance end users in AML, KYC and Sanctions screening teams and develop systems specifications document, business and technical process flows

  • Drive innovation in Anti Financial Crime tooling solutions at Kraken in collaboration with Compliance, Product and Engineering teams

  • Build and maintain Compliance Systems roadmap for anti financial crime systems like risk scoring, transaction monitoring and watchlist screening

  • Develop detailed technology solutions and systems improvements by conducting business analysis of existing systems, processes, policies and procedures

  • Be the subject matter expert for Compliance tools and represent Kraken Compliance in technical deep-dives in regulatory exams and audits

  • Partner with Compliance Management to effectively prioritize systems tooling requests and work with the Compliance engineering and core PDE teams to implement them

  • Support Regional Compliance Officers (RCOs) and their teams in audits, exams, and ongoing systems development and governance

  • Write detailed technical system documents with version control

  • Perform User Acceptance Testing and ensure requirements are understood and implemented as requested.

  • Facilitate communication across all system development phases and proactively alert management of changes to scope, timelines and resources.

  • Create Jira tickets and manage backlogs; effectively prioritize new system features vs. bug fixes

Skills you should HODL

  • 7+ years of combined total experience in product management, systems development, data analytics and engineering within Financial Services Compliance

  • 7+ years of combined total experience at a financial institution, fintech or a large consulting firm with relevant experience

  • Undergraduate degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Data Science or related technical field

  • Deep knowledge of Know Your Customer, Onboarding, Sanctions Screening and Anti Money Laundering Compliance

  • Ability to execute in a cross-functional global setting

  • A strategic thinker who can communicate well and make things happen

  • Knowledge of SQL, database concepts, software development lifecycle and project management principles

  • Expertise in data gathering and quantitative analysis

  • Solution oriented, proactive, strategic, comfortable with navigating ambiguity, bias for action and ability to balance multiple priorities

Nice to have

  • Experience within a hyper-growth crypto/fintech

  • Passion or growing intrigue for cryptocurrency adoption and personal experience with crypto
