At GitLab, we're revolutionizing the way software is built and managed. Source Code Management (SCM) lies at the heart of software development, underpinning our mission to enable everyone to contribute. As we continue to push the boundaries of collaboration and efficiency, we are seeking a Senior Product Designer to help us reimagine the future of SCM.

As a Senior Product Designer within our Source Code team, you will be instrumental in designing solutions that foster collaboration and innovation. Our vision for SCM at GitLab is not just about managing code and data; it's about creating a space where teams can work together seamlessly, regardless of the complexity of their projects or the size of their files.

What you’ll do

  • Design intuitive and scalable solutions that enhance collaboration for teams working across various industries, including game development, automotive, healthcare, and more.

  • Work closely with a cross-functional team to bring our strategic pillars to life:

    • Easy administration for large teams: Enable efficient and intuitive scaling of Source Code Management for large teams.

    • High performance with large binary files: Streamline collaboration for developers and contributors, ensuring seamless management of large binary files.

    • Streamlined workflows for large repositories: Enhance the management and collaboration within large repositories, including monorepos.

  • Focus on usability at scale, ensuring our tools and workflows are accessible and efficient for all users.

Additional core responsibilities of GitLab Senior Product Designers.

What you’ll bring

  • A visionary designer with extensive experience in product design, particularly within software development or tech industries.

  • Demonstrated experience with DevOps, either as a user or designing for a product.

  • Strong experience working in highly technical, complex environments.

  • Leadership skills - ability to define and drive a UX vision in cross-functional teams. Driving change across other teams, not just your own.

  • Experience conducting your own research with a variety of methods, and strong decision making skills for when to do research.

  • Skilled in breaking down complex designs and prioritizing core features to speed up the development process while ensuring a high-quality user experience.

  • Experienced in working within cross-functional teams, and you have the communication skills to bridge the gap between designers, developers, and other stakeholders.
