About the role

As a Senior Product Designer on our Security Policies team, you'll be at the forefront of transforming how organizations approach DevSecOps. You'll design intuitive and innovative UI/UX solutions that empower teams to develop software securely and efficiently, where your expertise will directly contribute to reducing business risks without compromising developer velocity.

You'll craft experiences that not only enforce security and compliance across our expanding platform but also streamline prioritization and remediation workflows through automation. This means you'll help teams work more efficiently, with less friction, and greater impact. You'll have the opportunity to think outside the box and propose bold solutions that could radically change how our security policies UI operates. Your designs will cater to large enterprise customers, making complex security configurations easy to manage and maintain.

Your work will have a profound impact on our customers and the broader community. By contributing to our one-stop platform for all things DevSecOps, you'll help organizations with limited resources enhance their security posture. You'll empower product development teams to 'shift left,' enabling them to proactively address security challenges and reduce threats effectively.

You’ll collaborate closely with security experts, engineers, and other designers within the Security Risk Management team. If you’re passionate about creating impactful designs in the security space, have experience with enterprise products, and are eager to tackle complex challenges with creativity and expertise, this role is perfect for you, we’d love to have you on board.

  • You’ll communicate your vision designs and ideas through wireframes, prototypes, user flows, mockups, and high-fidelity visual designs.

  • You’ll help develop hypotheses and establish clear success metrics to test new features or product changes and determine their impact on user experience and business outcomes.

  • You’ll undertake usability testing to validate your thinking. (We’ve got an excellent team of UX Researchers who can offer guidance, as needed.)

  • You’ll contribute to our Design System, alongside the rest of the UX team and the GitLab community as a whole.

  • Strong visual design skills with the ability to balance leveraging the design system and recognising when a unique component is needed.
