Senior Product Designer II - Data Visualization
About the Role
At HubSpot, we empower millions of businesses with actionable, data-driven insights across our suite of products. As a Senior Product Designer II focusing on Data Visualization, you’ll play a critical role in elevating how our customers see and understand their data. You’ll lead the development, management, and evolution of a unified Data Visualization Design System—laying the foundation for clarity, interactivity, consistency, and product differentiation.
In this role, you’ll collaborate across product, engineering, analytics and design systems teams, as well as work with agency partners, to ensure our visualizations are not only accurate and performant, but also engaging and accessible. Above all, you’ll help HubSpot deliver intuitive, story-driven, and compelling insights that drive smarter decisions and enhanced customer experience.
In this role, you’ll get to:
Drive Data Visualization Excellence: Develop and own HubSpot’s Data Visualization Design System, ensuring consistency, clarity, and performance across a wide range of data-centric product experiences.
Shape the Narrative: Select appropriate chart types, compose multi-dimensional dashboards, and apply animation and transitions that enhance storytelling, comprehension, and user decision-making.
Champion Clarity & Accessibility: Balance visual appeal with accessibility and usability—ensuring all visualizations meet or exceed global accessibility standards (such as WCAG/ARIA).
Foster Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, analytical partners, and external agencies to define requirements, iterate on solutions, and provide expert guidance on visualization best practices.
Deliver Actionable Insights: Design interactive and dynamic data visual experiences that transform complex datasets into clear, actionable insights for both novice and advanced users.
Measure Impact: Regularly gather and incorporate feedback, user research, and data to drive continual improvement and product differentiation.
We’re looking for people who:
Have experience designing for complex, data-rich products, ideally in SaaS, analytics, BI, or related platforms.
Demonstrate deep expertise in information design, data visualization principles, and chart/graph selection.
Are fluent in best practices for dashboard design, visual hierarchy, accessibility, and mobile/responsive data display.
Possess strong proficiency with modern design tools, as well as prototyping and animation tools for interactive storytelling.
Understand front-end technologies to effectively communicate with development partners (coding skills are a plus but not required).
Have a proven portfolio showcasing innovative, interactive, and highly effective data visualizations.
Are outstanding collaborators—able to synthesize complex requirements and feedback from multiple stakeholders and partners (both internal and external).
Are passionate advocates for the user, proactively seeking feedback, and iterating on designs for impact.
