About the job

Twilio is seeking a paralegal with a strong litigation background, ideally including employment matters, as well as a demonstrated track record of solving complex and challenging problems for a dynamic company. This is a great opportunity for a paralegal looking to grow their in-house experience with Twilio, the leader in customer engagement. In this role, you will have the opportunity to partner with Twiilo’s business units across the company to drive solutions on a variety of issues. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is curious and can operate in a fast-paced environment that is constantly changing. This is a global role supporting attorneys in the NAMER, EMEA, and APJ regions and reporting to the Sr. Managing Paralegal.  This role is critical in supporting Twilio’s in-house litigation and employment teams.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Support Twilio’s in-house and external counsel in factual development of cases, including coordinating with business stakeholders, conducting interviews, gathering and reviewing documents, and creating relevant materials.

  • Assist with the discovery process, including the collection, retention, and production of documents and data, drafting written responses to requests, and using eDiscovery tools and workflows for discovery responses.

  • Research, draft, and review legal documents, including responses to demand letters, agency charges, subpoenas, settlement agreements, employment-related documents, and engagement letters.

  • Oversee, maintain, and draft existing and new document retention notices, including assessing what document types are potentially relevant to the matter and determining which business units, systems, and custodians hold such documents.

  • Prepare documents for court filings.

  • Create and maintain a repository of legal documents such as demand letters and responses, separation agreements, subpoenas, and various templates.

  • Analyze information, documents, and data and provide written analysis to legal counsel, along with recommended next steps.

  • Work with outside counsel to create legal matter budgets and coordinate with Twilio’s Legal Operations team to track the same.

  • Track and manage critical litigation and other deadlines to ensure the team is aware of upcoming deadlines.

  • Project manage and assist with various ad hoc legal projects and provide broad legal support to the Litigation and Employment Legal teams.

  • Help with the development and implementation of processes for efficient and streamlined operations and workflows.

  • Compile litigation metrics and reporting to identify key trends and issues.

Qualifications

Twilio values diverse experiences from all kinds of industries, and we encourage everyone who meets the required qualifications to apply. If your career is just starting or hasn't followed a traditional path, don't let that stop you from considering Twilio. We are always looking for people who will bring something new to the table!

Required:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Be a self-starter who works effectively on a geographically-dispersed team with minimal day-to-day supervision, including by exhibiting good judgment of when to handle issues independently and when to escalate issues to supervisors and colleagues.

  • Knowledge and prior use of e-discovery tools and workflows for data preservation, collection, and analysis.

  • Excellent on-line research and investigative skills.

  • Perform well in a fast-paced, deadline-intensive environment.

  • Be proficient in the use of software, including Google Workspace products (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Meet, Chat, and Calendar) Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel, Slack, Zoom, Adobe, Salesforce, Zendesk and DocuSign.
