About The Role:

 

The Senior Marketing Copywriter - Communications at CALSTART will play a critical role in improving the effectiveness of our branding, social media, emails, websites, and other marketing materials. The ideal candidate will have a passion for writing, possess strong written communication skills, and a passion for sustainable transportation solutions. The Marketing Copywriter will report to the Deputy Director of Marketing - Light Duty Vehicles & Innovative Mobility and will work closely with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals.   

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Concept and create big ideas for all mediums, including, social media, websites, interactive content, emails, activations, print, events, experiential, etc.   

  • Understand how copywriting and conceptual ideas can be used to tell a story on behalf of a brand    

  • Create original, breakthrough work   

  • Oversee end-to-end creative processes, from initial brainstorming to final delivery, maintaining high standards for quality and relevance.   

  • Stay informed on industry shifts, category and competitive trends, and audience preferences to keep our messaging fresh, engaging, and culturally relevant.   

  • Gather any necessary research and other information (e.g. statistics, interviews, technical specifications, competitive information, etc.) needed to complete a project.  

  • Edit, proofread, and provide feedback on project deliverables.  

  • Receive revisions, corrections, and suggestions from SMEs, project managers, creative; integrate such input appropriately into final deliverables.   

  • Work closely with creative, marketing, communications, and other staff to ensure copy accuracy, fit, and appropriateness for specific channels.   

  • Write and edit marketing content and communications in support of CALSTART's marketing strategies including thought leadership, e-mails, landing pages, collateral, etc.  

  • Develop and manage an editorial guide for different initiatives  

  • Leverage data-driven analytics and performance insights to inform copywriting strategy and optimize messaging 

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 5-7 years of relevant professional experience in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field. 

  • Education:Bachelor's degree in communications, English, Marketing, Journalism, or equivalent professional experience. 

  • Skills: Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities, with a strong capacity to manage deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively. 

  • Mindset: A proactive self-starter with strong project management skills and the ability to bring clarity and structure to ambiguous processes. 

  • Capabilities:Demonstrated creativity and problem-solving skills. 

  • Passion: A genuine interest in sustainability and advancing clean transportation solutions. 

Desired Qualifications:

  • In-depth understanding of the clean transportation technology industry and market dynamics

$85,000 - $97,000 a year

CALSTART values transparency and strives to provide as much information regarding compensation as possible. The complete salary range for this role is $85,000 - $97,000 per year. We determine pay based on several factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, qualifications, experience, education, internal equity and other factors relevant to the job.
