Summary:

The Senior Manager, Underwriting Infrastructure is a senior, cross-functional leader who partners with the Global Head of Infrastructure to define, build, and scale Liberty Mutual’s global infrastructure product and service portfolio. Combining technical subject-matter expertise with commercial and product leadership, this role strengthens the product brand, enables the field, represents the practice externally, and constructively challenges decisions to deliver best-in-class outcomes for clients and the business. The leader owns the global product roadmap, drives strategic initiatives and governance, and partners with regional practice leads, underwriting, analytics, claims, legal/compliance, and marketing to launch and scale products; the role may include matrixed and direct team leadership.

Key responsibilities

  • Further define and evolve the global product and service strategy across infrastructure sectors and execute on a prioritized 12–24 month roadmap with business cases, success metrics, scale criteria, and an execution plan for pilots, MVPs, and end‑to‑end launches.

  • Provide senior technical leadership and represent the practice externally: maintain deep technical expertise, translate complex risks into commercial/underwriting implications, support client engagements and pitches, produce thought leadership, and influence cross‑functional stakeholders to ensure product decisions are technically sound and commercially viable.

  • Ensure governance, legal/regulatory compliance, and product quality: partner with legal/compliance on policy wording and contractual terms, establish post‑placement review processes, and track product quality and post‑placement metrics.

  • Drive go‑to‑market strategy and market visibility: partner with regional practice leads, account teams, and marketing on GTM tactics, target account segmentation, strategic pursuits, carrier/capacity relationships, and market positioning to scale products.

  • Lead enablement, operations, and capability building: convene cross‑functional working groups to resolve operational issues, create and maintain core enablement assets (playbooks, submission templates, training), mentor product specialists/technical advisors, and help define competency frameworks and training priorities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, risk/insurance, or related field; advanced degree preferred.

  • 10–15+ years’ experience in underwriting, infrastructure risk, construction insurance, or product/technical/advisory leadership, with a proven record launching insurance products, programs, or advisory services for infrastructure or large construction projects.

  • Deep expertise in infrastructure product design, underwriting rules, pricing, processes, and relevant data systems; strong analytical ability to use data to inform product and commercial decisions.

  • Strategic leader with pragmatic execution discipline, strong commercial instincts, sound risk judgment, and the ability to make timely decisions under pressure.

  • Collaborative influencer and trusted advisor with exceptional communication and presence; experienced working in global, matrixed organizations and able to influence without direct authority.

  • Constructive, evidence‑based challenger who supports governance and continuous improvement; resilient and comfortable with ambiguity and tight timelines.

  • Willingness to travel as required.
