Senior Manager - People Operations
What You’ll Be Doing:
The Senior Manager, People Operations is a critical leader within the Talent Enablement team, responsible for building and scaling the people operating environment that allows exceptional talent to ramp quickly, do high impact work, and choose to stay and grow with Grow.
As Grow accelerates toward 1000 plus employees, performance is no longer constrained - or enabled - by talent alone, but by the quality of the environment in which that talent operates. This role owns the operational backbone of that environment. From systems and data, to workflows and decision norms, to how employees experience Grow from offer through exit, you will ensure our People Operations foundation is efficient, clear, reliable, representative of our values, and built to scale.
This role owns the full - backend and frontend - People Operations function and shared services model, including employee lifecycle operations, people systems and tooling, payroll, benefits administration, compliance, and documentation. You will partner closely with the Director of Talent Enablement to translate Talent Enablement strategy into scalable systems, operations, and norms that enable strong talent outcomes.
This is a hands-on builder role for someone who can architect scalable infrastructure and systems while also ensuring excellent day-to-day execution. You will lead a high performing People Operations team and be at the forefront of leveraging AI to increase productivity, improve accuracy, and enhance the employee experience.
In this role, you will:
Build, hire, and lead a high performing People Operations team by setting clear vision, priorities, operating rhythms, and standards for execution
Influence the long-term operating model for People Operations to support future scale
Own end-to-end employee lifecycle operations, including onboarding, employee changes, leaves, offboarding, documentation management, background checks, work authorization, and compliance administration
Oversee payroll, benefits administration, leaves of absence, immigration, and people compliance with a strong focus on accuracy, trust, risk mitigation, and employee experience
Partner closely with People Business Partners, Finance, Legal, and IT to build and operate the operational backbone of the People function
Design and scale a foundational shared services model for the People team that establishes clear ownership, service levels, and operating norms across Talent Acquisition, People Business Partners, People Analytics & Insights and People Operations
Lead the adoption of AI across People Operations to improve productivity, accuracy, and the employee experience, including building and scaling an AI-enabled People Help Desk with strong self service capabilities and proactive issue resolution
Own and evolve people systems strategy, implementation, and ongoing optimization, including vendor management, change management, access controls, integrations, and continuous improvement
Design and implement scalable workflows, documentation standards, approval chains, and compliance checkpoints that reduce friction while maintaining quality and consistency
Establish and monitor operational and system health metrics, using people data (and partnering with Director, People Analytics & Insights when applicable) to drive decisions, prioritize work, and continuously improve the People environment
Partner with the Director of Talent Enablement, Finance, and other key stakeholders on benefits strategy, including broker relationship management, new hire enrollment, open enrollment, vendor management, and ongoing benefits education
Lead complex cross functional initiatives and first iteration transformation work, including major people systems implementations and related change management
Anticipate future scale needs and proactively evolve systems, operations, and norms ahead of growth
You’ll be a good fit if
You have 10 plus years of experience in People Operations or HR Operations, including experience leading teams
You have built or significantly evolved a scalable, data driven people operations function across the full employee lifecycle
Deep experience owning, implementing, and optimizing enterprise HRIS and people systems in high growth environments, including tools such as Rippling, Pave, and Carta
You are fluent in AI tools and applications relevant to People Operations, constantly learning about AI and its applications in the People Operations space, and excited to lead adoption and capability building
You can seamlessly shift between strategic system design and hands-on execution
You use data to tell clear, compelling stories that inform decisions rather than simply reporting metrics
You are a people leader that others trust and enjoy working with, known for coaching, clarity, values leadership, and thoughtful challenge
You are a change leader that can outline a clear vision, rationale, path for getting there, and communicate compellingly and empathetically to stakeholders and others impacted by new models or ways of working
You are an executor and strategic operator at heart, you move quickly and thoughtfully in ways that have immediate impact while also working backward from a larger plan
You bring strong systems thinking, problem solving skills, and an ability to turn complexity into clarity
You communicate clearly and partner effectively across functions and levels
You thrive in ambiguity, bring a proactive mindset, and adapt quickly as the business evolves
You are deeply aligned with Grow’s mission and values and excited to help build the People function of the future
Employment Type: Full Time, Exempt Base Compensation: The base compensation range for this position is
Hybrid Commitment: $155,000 - $190,000 USD Annually
Fully Remote Commitment: $130,000 - $159,000 USD Annually
This role can be hybrid (onsite from our NYC, San Francisco, or Seattle hub location three days per week: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) or fully remote. Both arrangements include travel 2–3 times per year (e.g., company and department offsites).
