About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Manager, Payments Strategy & Operations to join our team for a role to work remotely based in Canada.

Reporting to Director, Payments, you’re going to be leading a team of system analysts to deliver against a hybrid strategy/operations mandate that touches all things money movement - fund flow designs for new products, financial reconciliation, technical analysis and continuous improvement recommendations to payments engineering, cross-functional project delivery, and efficient execution and automation of critical daily workflows.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Own the “operating system” for the Payment Operations team - continuous intake and prioritization of initiatives from across the org, project planning and requirements gathering, sprint planning and delivery, and execution / automation of routine tasks

  • Put your fingerprints on every product - use your deep understanding of KOHO’s payments stack and business goals to design and operationalize all money movements, acting as the interface between Product, Tech, Risk, Finance, Data, etc.

  • Own financial reconciliation function end-to-end - set strategy and standards for detection and mitigation, design workflows and tooling/automation

  • Drive continuous improvements and guide the evolution of KOHO payments stack - set and track KPI targets, do impact analysis and synthesize opportunities into an actionable engineering roadmap

  • Empower KOHO with payments data - develop and maintain standardized data models, reporting and analytical tools; stand up new data ingestion and publication pipelines.

Who You Are

  • 5+ years payment operations experience in a high-tech environment; deep understanding of card and bank transaction lifecycles, financial reconciliation and authorization / settlement processes in modern API-based systems.

  • Strong people manager, passion for coaching and developing the hard and soft skills necessary to deliver both operational and project work under shifting priorities.

  • Tech-savvy and love working with engineering. Comfortable digging into API docs, architecture diagrams and system logs to diagnose issues and make clear asks.

  • Highly analytical problem-solver with strong business acumen.  Proficient pulling your own data with SQL, constructing forecasts and impact estimates, and making educated assumptions to enable trade off and prioritization decisions.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management at all levels, can synthesize complex topics to diverse stakeholders and bridge technical and business functions.

  • Process optimization is second nature, obsessed with measurement and efficiency
