How we’ll deliver success:

As a Senior Manager of Data Platforms & Analytics, you will lead our data infrastructure and analytics initiatives. This role requires a highly skilled and hands-on data professional with expertise in AWS Cloud, Postgres, Kafka, Databricks, and Looker. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, navigating high levels of abstraction and ambiguity, while enabling self-serve analytics for business users.

Shipping & handling responsibilities:

- Design, build, and maintain a scalable and robust data platform utilizing AWS Cloud, Postgres, Kafka, Databricks, and Looker;

- Ensure data platform architecture aligns with industry best practices and emerging trends;

- Enable self-serve analytics capabilities for business users, empowering them with the tools and insights needed to make data-driven decisions;

- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Looker;

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, and business stakeholders, to understand data needs and deliver strategic solutions;

- Drive the data strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with business objectives and goals;

- Implement data governance frameworks to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security;

- Establish data quality metrics and monitoring processes to maintain high data integrity;

- Be hands-on with data architecture, modeling, and engineering to solve complex data challenges;

- Stay current with data trends and industry tools, continuously evaluating and integrating new technologies to enhance the data platform;

- Enable federated data products and data solutions development by various engineering teams by building the necessary framework, architecture, and data tools;

- Foster a culture of collaboration and innovation to drive the development of federated data products;

- Lead and mentor a team of data professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation;

- Provide guidance and support to team members, enabling their growth and development.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in a senior data management role, preferably within a technology-driven company

  • Experience in enabling federated data products and data solutions development through building frameworks, architectures, and data tools

  • Expertise in AWS Cloud, Postgres, Kafka, Databricks, and Looker

  • Strong hands-on experience with data architecture, data modeling, and data engineering

  • Demonstrated ability to work with high levels of abstraction and ambiguity

  • Experience enabling self-serve analytics capabilities for business users

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and with stakeholders

  • Strong leadership and mentorship abilities, with a track record of developing high-performing teams

Our Compensation Shippolicy:

We believe compensation is a custom experience and are commited to fair and equitable compensation practices. The standard base pay range for this role is min $191k to a max $258k annual salary. Since we are focused on hiring Shippos Everywhere, we have 2 US pay ranges, a standard compensation range for the majority of the US and a standard +1 compensation range for those who live in areas where the cost of labor is higher, such as NYC and California.

The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: financial budgets, work experience, training, transferable skills, business needs, and market value. The base pay salary ranges are subject to change and may be modified in the future. Total compensation for this role will include, equity, medical, dental, vision and other benefits noted in our Shippos “package” section.
