Job Description
Position Overview
The Senior Manager, Grant Accounting is an integral part of the Finance Team at the KIPP Foundation, supporting the accounting, financial planning, and financial reporting functions related to the Foundation’s portfolio of philanthropic grants and contributions. The Senior Manager, Grant Accounting will have the unique opportunity to work cross-functionally with the Foundation’s Finance, Development, and Program teams to ensure a very high-level of accuracy in our grant management, accounting, and reporting, while safeguarding the KIPP Foundation’s financial resources and donor relationships. The Senior Manager, Grant Accounting reports to the Sr. Director, Finance on the Finance Team. Responsibilities
Grant Planning, Analysis, & Reporting
Lead grant planning, analysis, & reporting processes including:
Incorporating new grant activity into the annual budget and monthly forecasts
Participating in monthly financial planning meetings with budget managers
Analyzing grant activity, identifying reclassifications required, and preparing related journal entries
Maintaining staff time and effort recording systems and processes
Training new hires and staff in relevant finance and grant-related systems and processes
Supporting the Sr. Director, Finance with grant-related reporting, including building budgets for new grant proposals
Supporting ad-hoc grant planning, analysis, and reporting as needed
Grant Accounting
Support the Sr. Director, Finance with the monthly grant accounting close by:
Identifying miscoded expenses to reclassify between grants and preparing journal entries
Analyzing monthly grant activity and preparing journal entries and supporting documentation to release revenue from restriction
Assisting with grant related audit requests
Performing other grant accounting duties, as needed
Contributed Revenue & Cash Accounting & Reporting
Support the Sr. Director, Finance with contributed revenue and cash accounting and reporting by:
Supporting the Sr. Director, Finance with monitoring the donations account via online banking system and preparing related journal entries to record cash, grants receivable, and revenue
Disbursing donations received on behalf of our regions
Reconciling related revenue and cash accounts monthly, as assigned
Assisting with revenue and cash related audit requests
Supporting revenue reporting and alignment between the Finance & the Development Teams
Performing other revenue and cash accounting duties, as needed

Experience and Qualifications
3+ years of relevant work experience in finance and accounting required
Working knowledge of non-profit accounting and grant management
Previous experience with the following systems preferred, but not required: Intacct, Workday Adaptive Planning, Salesforce, ADP Workforce Now
Excellent Microsoft Office skills, specifically Microsoft Excel, required
Demonstrated ability and success in managing ambiguity
Demonstrated ability and success in juggling multiple projects and competing priorities
Legally eligible to work in the United States; no sponsorship provided

Travel requirements: 10% (for team meetings, all staff events, etc.)

Location
It is preferred, but not mandatory for this role to be based out of a KIPP Foundation office. This role has the option of working from a remote office full-time. KIPP Foundation offices are in NYC and Chicago.
Compensation and Benefits
In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, and relevant experience. The salary range for this position is $100,000-$118,000. In addition, KIPP Foundation provides a variety of benefits to employees, including:
25 holidays for + 18 days additional flexible PTO days (flexible PTO increases to 23 days for years 3 and 4 and to 28 days for years 5+).
100% paid parental leave
