We are looking for a talented Sr. Manager, Studio to join Upwork's Creative Practices team.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide mentoring, coaching, and day-to-day management to creative producers and studio & traffic manager including; 1-on-1s, weekly team meetings, employee development, morale and team building. Guide high impact projects from a Program Lead level to ensure clean working style, minimized road bumps, and successful/smooth executions.  

  • Manage operations for the Workshop studio including proactively sharing information, actively soliciting feedback, and facilitating communication between studio and cross functional partners.

  • Responds to escalated project issues that may impede project delivery and coordinates solutions. Thinks expansively about the best ways to approach and solve new challenges, bringing a creative lens to complex business problems.

  • Partner with Design Design to provide overall strategic implementations for projects by establishing standards, processes, and tools used for effective project delivery. Develop and maintain processes within the studio team.

  • Partner with Director of Creative Practices and Sr. Manager of Creative Production to proactively identify obstacles between internal, external partners, and cross functional team dynamics to drive productive results.

What it takes to catch our eye:

  • 8+ years of creative project management or a related role required

  • Demonstrated leadership and ethics; ability to understand the needs of other teams and collaborate with leads to define processes which yield effective and efficient project delivery while maintaining team health

  • Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills; able to establish good working relationships with employees at all levels, resolve conflict and provide feedback, and to devise and implement creative solutions to problems

  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written; demonstrated ability to speak up appropriately and to raise issues to teams and management

  • An adaptive planner who is forward-thinking and proactive, with the ability to identify risk early and suggest effective mitigation strategies

  • Deep knowledge of project management processes, tools, and resourcing needs with an ability to teach/share knowledge to a team of creative producers.
