Senior Financial Reconciliation Manager
Mercury is building the financial stack for ambitious businesses. As we scale our *banking infrastructure — deepening partner bank relationships while building toward a de novo bank charter — the integrity of our financial data is foundational to everything we do.
We’re hiring a Senior Financial Reconciliation Manager at a pivotal moment in Mercury’s evolution. This leader will own reconciliation end-to-end: scaling partner bank reconciliation operations today while architecting the future-state framework for Mercury as a chartered institution.
You’ll lead a high-performing team, shape and optimize our BlackLine environment, and design the controls infrastructure that will underpin a regulated bank. You’ll serve as the subject matter expert across payment rails and partner relationships — and define what “best-in-class reconciliation” looks like at Mercury.
This role is for someone who pairs deep accounting rigor with strong operational instincts, systems thinking, and a genuine passion for building teams and scalable processes from the ground up.
*Mercury is a fintech company, not an FDIC-insured bank. Banking services provided through Choice Financial Group and Column N.A., Members FDIC.
You will:
Own reconciliation integrity across customer transactions spanning multiple payment rails and account types
Architect and implement the reconciliation structure for Mercury's de novo bank charter
Design and operationalize a robust reconciliation controls framework aligned with regulatory expectations
Lead and mentor a team of reconciliation analysts
Drive strategy and optimization within our BlackLine environment and reconciliation tooling
Use data to identify systemic improvements, eliminate manual processes, and enable automation at scale
Translate partner bank requests into clear internal execution plans
Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, Accounting, Risk, and Data Science to build scalable infrastructure
Feel confident when using data and intuition to make decisions in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment, while demonstrating curiosity and a growth mindset
Be fully autonomous and find joy in driving efficiency
You have:
8+ years of experience in reconciliation, with at least 3+ years in banking, fintech, or reconciliation tooling environments
Experience optimizing data flows and automating manual reconciliation processes
Strong knowledge of payment rails including Fedwire, ACH, and card settlement and the reconciliation workflows they create
Demonstrated ability to build and implement control frameworks
Comfort collaborating across technical and non-technical stakeholders, including engineers and external partners
Proven people leadership experience, with a focus on coaching and developing teams
A builder mindset — energized by creating structure where it doesn’t yet exist
Systems thinking, operational rigor, and a bias toward action
The total rewards package at Mercury includes base salary, equity (stock options), and benefits.
Our salary and equity ranges are highly competitive within the SaaS and fintech industry and are updated regularly using the most reliable compensation survey data for our industry. New hire offers are made based on a candidate’s experience, expertise, geographic location, and internal pay equity relative to peers.
