Role Description

This role will evolve and up-level Dropbox’s existing events and experiences—both internal and external. In partnership with existing event teams, agencies, and Brand Studio, this role will help reimagine the experience customers and employees have at our in-person and virtual events, all while keeping Dropbox’s brand promise to design a more enlightened way of working top of mind. The ideal candidate will use existing resources with an opportunity to expand and scale programs by tying events and experiences to tangible business outcomes (ex., customer events, sales experiences and prospecting, leadership engagement, etc.). In Dropbox’s new Virtual First working model, in-person experiences need to offer a consistent vision of our culture and brand and an even more unique and creative way of bringing Dropbox to life.

Responsibilities

  • Evangelize and bring to life a new era of experiences that align with Dropbox’s brand promises.

  • Serve as a trusted partner to existing event teams and agencies, working with their teams to reimagine and elevate Dropbox experiences.

  • Inspire a team of creatives and agency partners to execute world-class events that surprise and delight our customers, employees, and community members.

  • Define an overarching and consistent creative strategy for how we approach events—what do we want attendees to think/feel about our experiences? What is the tone of our communications? What gifts do we send them home with?, etc.

  • Whether it's internal events like large team and leadership off-sites or external events like brand partnerships, customer conferences, etc., this role will define how we can give attendees a memorable and delightful experience that stands out and leaves them feeling inspired and welcomed by the Dropbox brand.

  • Lead the redevelopment of event guidelines and toolkits to enable all teams responsible for putting on events to execute cohesive and inspiring experiences.

  • Reimagine partner, influencer, customer, and employee gifting as a critical part of the in-person experience.

  • Key Partners: Brand Studio, Executive Team, Talent Team, Marketing Team, Sales Team, Internal Events, Offsite planning teams, and Workplace Team

Requirements

  • 15+ years of professional experience

  • In-depth and hands-on experience in events services, hospitality, client service, or consulting

  • Creative thinker with the ability to conceptualize unique event themes, experiences, and activations that resonate with target audiences and reinforce the brand's messaging.

  • Several years of experience in event planning and strategy, preferably in the technology industry.

  • Proven track record of successfully planning and executing large-scale events, such as conferences, product launches, trade shows, and customer events.

  • Demonstrated ability to partner with and mentor a team of event planners and coordinators.

  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail, including the ability to prioritize tasks, delegate responsibilities, and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to develop and implement innovative event strategies that align with the brand's overall marketing and business objectives.

  • Experience in analyzing market trends, competitor activities, and audience preferences to inform event planning decisions.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with internal teams, external vendors, and stakeholders at all levels.

  • Proficiency in budget development, forecasting, and management to ensure events are executed within allocated financial resources.

  • Experience in evaluating ROI and effectiveness of events to optimize future budget allocations.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with the flexibility to adjust event plans and strategies in response to changing market dynamics or internal strategy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in event planning and strategy, preferably in the technology industry

  • Proven track record of successfully planning and executing large-scale events, such as conferences, product launches, trade shows, and customer events
