Job Description

About the team

The Solutions Sub Group sits within the Integrations and Solutions group, part of Canva's Ecosystem supergroup. The broader group includes 6 teams and operates in a leadership triad model with product and engineering partners.

The work around you spans traditional REST API integrations, AI platform partnerships with OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google, enterprise enablement, and developer ecosystem growth. It's a fast-moving space where the intersection of AI, enterprise, and platform strategy creates both complexity and opportunity.

What you’d be doing in this role

This is a Senior Engineering Manager role leading the Solutions Sub Group within Canva's Ecosystem Supergroup. You'll lead three distinct but tightly connected functions: our Solution Engineering team (~6 engineers), our Developer Toolkits team (~5 engineers), and our System Integrator program (~3 partners). Together, these form the nucleus of how Canva delivers and scales its product portfolio across enterprise customers, AI platform partners, and external developers.

This isn't a typical engineering management role. You'll operate across technical delivery, partnership management, and commercial enablement, often simultaneously. At Canva, change is part of our DNA, and the exact shape of this role will evolve, but to begin with you'll focus on:

Taking ownership of the System Integrator program. Canva partners with external System Integrators who deliver strategic apps. You'll own this end-to-end: partnerships, ways of working, quality standards, and strategic direction. You'll work across procurement, product, and engineering to scale this delivery model while maintaining architectural quality.

Leading Solution Engineering and go-to-market enablement. Our Solution Engineering team bridges the gap between Canva's technical capabilities and complex enterprise partner and sales needs, supporting high-value deals with architecture guidance, proof-of-concept development, and integration design. You'll also be the primary collaboration layer between Solution Engineering and our System Integrators, ensuring alignment without creating delivery bottlenecks.

Guiding Developer Toolkits forward. You'll guide the direction of the team that helps developers and enterprise customers discover what's possible with Canva's platform, ensuring our toolkits, documentation, and developer experiences keep pace as AI integrations and agentic workflows become a larger part of the story.

Shaping strategy and influencing roadmap. The Solutions Sub Group serves the full breadth of Ecosystem products: Apps SDK, App Intents, Data Connectors, the Integration Platform, and more. You'll think holistically across all of these, working closely with go-to-market, sales, and marketing, while feeding enterprise customer needs, SI delivery patterns, and partner feedback back into the API and platform development roadmap across the company.

Coaching and growing people at multiple levels. Your teams have strong technical foundations. Your role is to empower them, remove barriers, and develop the next generation of engineering leaders.

You're probably a match if

  • You've led engineering teams in a partnerships or platform context, not just internal product delivery. You understand how to manage external relationships, whether that's vendor partnerships, System Integrator programs, or technical sales enablement.

  • You have strong commercial and go-to-market instincts. You don't need to be a salesperson, but you understand how technical capabilities translate into customer and business value. You'll work closely with sales, partnerships, and marketing, and you need to be comfortable in those conversations.

  • You can manage diverse team types simultaneously. This role spans internal engineering teams, a solution engineering function with a distinct operating model, and external System Integrator partnerships. You'll need to context-switch between these and apply different leadership approaches to each.

It would be great if you also had;

  • Technical credibility to engage meaningfully on architecture discussions, API design, and platform strategy. You'll provide guidance and set quality standards, and even write the code when needed.

  • Experience scaling teams and programs. This sub-group is growing, and a track record of building teams, hiring well, and establishing operating models that scale without creating bureaucracy would set you up well.

  • Clear, direct communication across both deeply technical and non-technical audiences. You'll operate across engineering, product, sales, and external partners, and you'll need to adapt your style across cultures and contexts.

  • A leadership style built on empowerment, not control. You delegate with intention, coach through powerful questions, and create the conditions for your engineers and tech leads to own outcomes and grow.

Bonus points for

  • Experience with System Integrator or vendor management programs, enterprise solution engineering, developer relations, or working in platform ecosystems where multiple audiences (enterprise customers, partners, third-party developers) have different needs and expectations.

Why this role matters

Canva is accelerating into enterprise and AI, and the Solutions Group is at the centre of how that reaches customers and partners. The person in this role will shape how Canva delivers technical solutions at scale, how we partner with external engineering organisations, and how we enable some of our most strategic customer relationships. It's a rare combination of technical leadership, partnership management, and commercial impact.
