About the Role: 

 

As a DevOps Engineer at Andela, your focus will be on leveraging your deep understanding of Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Kubernetes (K8s), and Jenkins to enable the rapid, reliable, and scalable delivery of our software products. This crucial role sits at the intersection of software development and systems operations, making it integral to our ability to deliver high-quality software solutions quickly and efficiently. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional product development teams to gain a comprehensive understanding of their needs and project requirements. 

  • Accurately interpret and translate gathered requirements into actionable tasks, while devising a strategic plan for seamless execution. 

  • Develop and implement robust CI/CD pipelines utilizing Jenkins/Groovy and ArgoCD, ensuring optimal efficiency and reliability. 

  • Maintain and expand existing GCP-based infrastructure using Terraform in order to support the growing needs of our product development teams. 

  • Implement monitoring and alerting tools, such as Datadog, to facilitate real-time tracking of system performance and immediate identification of potential issues. 

  • Drive the automation of routine processes, including system health checks and vulnerability scanning, to bolster security and streamline workflows. 

Requirements: 

  • A minimum of 4 years of professional experience working as a DevOps engineer on cloud-based setups, preferably with a focus on GCP and Kubernetes. 

  • Demonstrated expertise in administering continuous integration (CI/CD) systems based on Jenkins, Teamcity, Buildkite, or similar platforms. 

  • Proficiency in containerization technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code tools like Ansible, Terraform, or equivalent. 

  • Proven experience scaling, building, and deploying systems in cloud environments, with a strong understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities associated with these platforms. 

  • A strong commitment to continuous learning, collaboration, and innovation. 

  • Extensive experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Kubernetes, and Jenkins/Groovy. 

  • Demonstrated experience in implementing monitoring and alerting tools, such as Datadog. 

  • Strong understanding of system health checks and vulnerability scanning processes. 

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for effective engagement with diverse product development teams. 

  • Advanced level of English (both written and oral) to ensure effective communication within our diverse, global team.
