Position Summary:

We are looking to hire a talented and eager Senior Developerto join our team in a remote position.

The Senior Developer (SysOps) is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining web applications using PHP, Symfony, and related technologies. Oversees back-end systems, Linux servers, Kubernetes clusters and Redis to ensure performance, scalability, and security. Collaborates with developers to implement features, troubleshoot issues, and maintain overall system reliability.

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality web applications using PHP, Symfony, and other web development technologies

  • Developing new functionality, maintaining existing functionality, and learning how the product works.

  • Identifying areas for modification in existing programs and subsequently developing these modifications

  • Communicating and liaising with other developers to explain how various components work and are supposed to interact with each other

  • Managing back-end services and ensuring smooth interchange of data

  • Work with a team of developers to implement new features and bug fixes

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues

  • Deploying software tools, processes, and metrics

  • Maintaining and upgrading existing systems

  • Set up and maintain Kubernetes clusters to enable containerized application deployment and scaling.

  • Implement auto-scaling solutions and load balancing to accommodate changing workloads and ensure system reliability.

  • Administer Redis for caching and data storage, ensuring data integrity and optimal performance.

  • Configure, secure, and maintain Linux-based servers, ensuring high availability and performance.

  • Maintain the security of the infrastructure, including access control, data encryption, and vulnerability assessments.

  • On-Call Rotation: When scheduled in the on-call rotation, the developer is expected to be available after hours for the duration of their assigned week to respond to critical issues and support operationalcontinuity.

  • Complete all required initial and ongoing training within a reasonable or provided timeframe.

The ideal candidate will have the following experience, skills, and knowledge:

  • Bachelors degree in computer science/information technology, or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of PHP 5.4+ experience

  • Strong understanding of PHP, Docker, HTML, Nginx, Twig, Symfony, MongoDB, HTML, CSS, Git, PHPUnit, Linux, and jQuery.

  • Solid OOP fundamentals

  • Experience with Agile, test-driven, and Scrum development methodologies.

  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration, including deploying, scaling, and managing containerized applications.

  • Proficiency in Redis database management for caching and data storage, including configuring and optimizing Redis instances.

  • Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.

  • Understanding of networking concepts, including IP addressing, routing, and firewall configuration.

  • Knowledge and interest in computer systems and the latest technologies

  • Commitment to continual learning, professional development, and keeping up-to-date with industry trends and best practices

  • The ability to learn new technologies quickly

  • Good communication skills both written and verbal

  • Leadership skills provide guidance and support
