Our Community

We were born from Open Source and it’s in our founding and company DNA. Our job in developer advocacy is just that - to advocate for this community, and nurture the people within it.  When they succeed, Grafana does as well.  We believe that a big, vibrant, participatory community is how the most innovation happens, and how we grow.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Developer Advocate Analyst who can lead analytics for our function. You will use Grafana as a platform to produce analytics about the Grafana Open Source community, and communicate publicly about the results. Everything we do in developer advocacy is public, and we want you to talk about your work.

Internally, we want to better understand how users learn & progress through our software, and we use our own stack to get that done, as well as to teach others how to do similar things. This role will partner closely with our self-serve cloud, analytics, and engineering departments and report to our Director of Developer Advocacy in an all-remote team of advocates and community specialists.

You will be joining a developer advocacy & community team of 13 to provide insights into our community and demonstrate the impact of developer advocacy.  We work in the R&D part of the organization, alongside product managers and engineers.  The aim of the role is to help users build cool stuff.

If working at the intersection of analytics, open source, and developer advocacy is something you’re excited about, we’d love to hear from you.

You Will

  • Partner across areas to establish top-level KPIs, and dashboards for the developer advocacy function

  • Guide the instrumentation of product data in collaboration with our PMs, UX, and Engineering teams

  • Play a key role in the implementation of our product analytics tooling (e.g., Rudderstack, BigQuery and others)

  • Develop dbt models to transform and test our growth data in partnership with our Analytics Engineering team

You have

  • Familiarity with developer advocacy as a function and how open source communities work

  • Experience partnering across organizations, and some familiarity with typical product KPIs and frameworks (e.g., DAU/MAU, funnels, A/B testing)

  • SQL: writing complex yet efficient SQL is a daily habit for you

  • Data Visualization: experience with any of the following tools Tableau, Looker, Mode, Hex, or of course, Grafana!

  • Experience writing dbt models, and implementing product analytics tooling (e.g., Heap, Pendo, Amplitude, FullStory)

  • Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical topics to non-technical audiences

A plus if you have

  • Knowledge about observability

  • Familiarity with Airflow or Prefect - generating ad hoc ETL jobs
