During your day as a Senior Database Analyst, you will:
- Design, develop, implement, and maintain efficient and secure database systems to meet customer needs.
- Perform requirements analysis and collaborate with client software development teams to ensure proper database integration into applications and systems.
- Perform continuous monitoring of database performance and capacity, proactively identifying and resolving problems.
- Perform performance tuning, optimizations, and query tuning to improve database efficiency and speed.
- Implement and maintain data security policies, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data.
- Define backup and data recovery policies, ensuring adequate protection against data loss.
- Provide technical support and guidance to team members, sharing database knowledge and best practices.
- Keep up to date with trends and technological advances related to databases, proposing and implementing continuous improvements.
As a Senior Database Analyst you need to know and/or have:
Must-Have:
- Proven experience as a Senior Database Analyst or in a similar role.
- Database administration, including design, modeling, optimization, security, and data recovery.
- Solid skills in SQL and query optimization.
- Familiarity with the different relational database options supported by AWS or similar from other clouds, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, and Aurora, and ability to evaluate and recommend the best option for specific scenarios.
- Practical experience in deploying, configuring, and managing databases using the RDS service (database tool to manage in AWS) from AWS, or similar from other clouds
- Knowledge of data security practices and compliance with regulations (e.g. GDPR, LGPD).
- Familiarity with database monitoring tools and ability to diagnose performance issues on the database server and specific query, including query plan analysis.
- Ability to work independently, manage projects, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make informed decisions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information in a clear and understandable manner.
Nice to Have:
- Experience implementing and supporting non-relational databases (e.g. MongoDB, Cassandra)
- Relevant certifications in AWS services, such as AWS Certified Database - Specialty, or similar from other clouds, would be considered an advantage.
