We’re looking for a pragmatic, solution-oriented employment and litigation lawyer to join our Legal team.  In this role, you’ll be responsible for overseeing employment and general litigation matters as well as providing legal guidance across a broad range of employment-related issues, including employee relations, internal investigations, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution. We anticipate that the responsibilities for this role will be divided between employment advice/counsel and employment litigation (75%) and general litigation matters (25%).

An ideal candidate would have 6-10 years of broad experience handling both employment and general litigation matters, including a proven track record of navigating the nuances of various federal and state employment laws, managing complex discovery in a digital-first environment, and balancing risk with business priorities.

Location: This role can work in any of Reddit’s U.S. offices (SF, LA, Chicago, NYC) or remotely from within the U.S.

What You’ll Do:

  • Oversee and manage a wide range of employment and general litigation matters.  You will drive case strategy, ensure cost-effective representation, and manage outside counsel through all phases of the litigation lifecycle from discovery and motions to trial and/or arbitration.

  • Assist in fact finding and internal reviews of potential claims to provide early assessments of a case’s strengths and defenses to inform overall legal and business strategy.

  • Respond to third-party subpoenas and similar requests, pre-litigation demand letters and administrative charges (EEOC/CRD).

  • Serve as a strategic, proactive, and pragmatic legal partner and collaborator to our Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, People Operations, Compensation, Benefits, and Contingent Workforce, Public Policy, Trust & Safety Policy teams and other internal stakeholders on employment-related and general litigation matters.

  • Advise on and direct employment legal matters, including those relating to employee relations, recruitment, wage/hour, terminations, reductions in force, leaves of absence, privacy, mobility, compensation, benefits, international expansion, M&A, executive compensation, and contingent workforce.

  • Prepare, review, and advise on employment agreements and policies, including offer letters, handbooks, compensation plans, and separation agreements.

  • Conduct internal investigations, worker classification assessments, and other employment-related audits.

  • Drive innovation by providing legal review and advice regarding the e-Discovery process, AI utilization, and the evaluation of outside counsel performance and spend.

  • Actively monitor evolving laws and regulations affecting substantive legal areas and provide strategic advice to internal stakeholders.

What We’re Looking For:

  • JD, top academic background, and a current license in a state bar in the United States.

  • 6-10 years of employment law experience, preferably with a mix of big law firm training and in-house experience at a tech or fast-paced company.

  • Extensive litigation experience with preference for candidates who have experience with all phases of litigation.

  • Deep knowledge of U.S. employment laws, including Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, FLSA, and related state and local equivalents, as well as laws related to intermediary liability issues.

  • Experience with California employment law.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
