Apply for this position

Our Senior Consultant, Data Governance plays a key role in helping clients embed governance and stewardship into their daily work. This is a hands-on role focused on executing governance activities, supporting metadata cataloging, and applying practical data quality controls. Just as important, this person will act as a communicator and facilitator—helping form working groups, align business and technical teams, and coach client staff on how to take ownership as data stewards.

The ideal candidate combines tool knowledge with strong communication skills: able to configure and roll out metadata solutions, write clear business rules, document quality controls, and guide client teams through “how to” governance practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate data governance working groups to drive alignment between business and technology stakeholders.

  • Execute metadata management activities such as cataloging, lineage capture, and stewardship workflows.

  • Partner with business teams to draft and maintain business rules, definitions, and data quality controls.

  • Apply data quality processes such as profiling, monitoring, and issue management, ensuring rules are practical and adopted.

  • Support the installation, configuration, rollout and adoption of governance/metadata tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Atlan, Purview).

  • Coach client staff on data stewardship practices—showing them how to govern their data effectively and sustainably.

  • Communicate governance concepts in clear business language; prepare presentations, training materials, and adoption guides.

  • Provide input on access controls, privacy, and compliance with regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.)

  • Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and business owners to embed governance into daily workflows, platform pipelines, modeling practices, and observability.

  • Metadata Tools & Platform Enablement

    • Install and configure metadata/catalog tools in client environments.

    • Build and curate catalogs, including ingestion of technical metadata, business glossaries, and lineage.

    • Define user personas and design role-appropriate experiences (data stewards, data owners, analysts, engineers).

    • Tailor tool UX (workflows, dashboards, search optimization) to improve usability and adoption.

    • Configure governance workflows (e.g., DG asset approvals, stewardship assignments, issue tracking).

    • Leverage and guide customers on AI-assisted features in modern tools (auto-classification, definition drafting, similarity matching, lineage discovery) to accelerate execution and adoption.

Partner with client IT teams to ensure tools are integrated into enterprise platforms and security models.

Required Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in data governance, metadata management, or related roles.

  • Hands-on experience with data catalog/metadata tools (e.g., Alation, Collibra, Atlan, Purview).

  • Exposure to data quality tools and processes (Informatica, Talend, Ataccama, or equivalent).

  • Strong communication skills: able to facilitate workshops, write clear business documentation, and present to mixed audiences.

  • Demonstrated ability to define and obtain alignment for definition, business rules and data quality controls.

  • Familiarity with governance operating models and stewardship practices.

  • Knowledge of privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA) and how governance practices support compliance.

Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent work experience).

Preferred Skills

  • Experience leading or supporting data governance working groups or stewardship councils.

  • Knowledge of data access provisioning, integration patterns, or lineage capture.

  • Experience building adoption materials, training guides, or playbooks for governance programs.

  • Prior client-facing consulting experience.
