Description

Senior Claims Resolution Specialist – Environmental Claims

Make an Impact. Shape Outcomes. Build a Career with Purpose.

Liberty Mutual is seeking a skilled, motivated, and solutions‑driven Senior Claims Resolution Specialist to join our USRM Environmental Team. If you’re energized by complex problem‑solving, thrive in a role where every decision matters, and want to help customers navigate high‑stakes environmental liability issues, this is an opportunity to elevate your career.

As part of our Environmental Claims division, you’ll take the lead on intricate General Liability and Homeowners Liability claims involving environmental exposure, high‑value risks, and meaningful customer impact. Every case tells a story and you’ll be the one driving it toward the right outcome.

This isn’t routine claims work. This is deep investigation, strategic negotiation, and high‑level coverage analysis that directly shapes financial and legal outcomes.

Compensation Perks

This position is eligible for up to a $2,500 sign‑on bonus after 90 days for external candidates with an active All-Lines Adjuster license in Florida or Texas. Bring your expertise, we’ll invest in your success.

Work Style

Depending on where you’re located, you may be onsite twice per month, giving you the flexibility you want with the connection you need.

In this role, you will:

  • Own a portfolio of complex environmental liability claims from start to finish.

  • Evaluate coverage, assess liability, and set reserves with a strategic, analytical mindset.

  • Communicate with policyholders, experts, attorneys, remediation teams, and claimants to uncover the story behind each claim.

  • Write clear, concise Coverage Position Letters and collaborate with internal legal teams.

  • Drive litigation strategy, attend hearings and trials, and monitor legal expenses to ensure we are litigating with purpose.

  • Negotiate settlements with attorneys, co‑defendants, and other carriers — securing fair outcomes while identifying cost‑sharing opportunities.

  • Provide leadership-level insight through comprehensive reporting and thoughtful file management.

Ideal experience includes:

  • Strong expertise in casualty claims, litigation, commercial general liability (environmental exposures preferred), and complex coverage analysis.

  • Proven ability to draft high‑quality coverage letters (a writing sample may be requested).

  • A measured, analytical approach balanced with confident decision-making.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

At Liberty Mutual, your growth is our priority. You’ll receive robust training, ongoing mentorship, and access to a supportive network of experts. We value reliable, engaged participation during training because we’re deeply committed to setting you up for long‑term success.

This is your chance to build a career where your expertise matters, your ideas are valued, and your work directly impacts real people and real outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Must have an expert knowledge of coverage, liability, and complex claims handling procedures.

  • Must be able to effectively handle claims at the highest technical and complexity level.

  • Must be knowledgeable of state and federal laws in the adjuster's jurisdiction.

  • A full working knowledge of claims operations and procedures is required.

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills required as well as strong interpersonal, analytical, investigative and negotiation skills.

  • The capabilities, skills and knowledge required is normally acquired through a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and at least 7 years of directly related experience.

  • Ability to obtain proper licensing as required.
