Dedicated to innovative storytelling, Worlds Untold is searching for a Senior Character Artist who is passionate about crafting memorable characters for our immersive gaming worlds.
The ideal candidate will have a blend of exceptional artistic abilities with a comprehensive understanding of technical requirements, all fueled by a profound passion for video games. Your role will involve modeling and texturing a variety of characters, demonstrating an understanding of iconic design principles within a believable realistic style. Key Responsibilities:
Design, model, and texture highly detailed 3D characters following a defined style and within technical constraints.
Collaborate closely with the Art Director and Design team to understand and deliver on their vision.
Utilize physical-based rendering techniques that meet the high-quality standards of our games.
Develop detailed texture maps and materials for use in the game engine.
Implement and maintain assets into the game engine, ensuring optimal performance.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior members of the character art team as needed, fostering a culture that is both creatively curious and continuous learning.
Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in animation and management, incorporating these insights into workflows.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Animation, Game Design, or related field.
7+ years of professional experience as a Character Artist within the gaming industry.
Expertise in industry-standard 3D software like ZBrush, Maya, Substance Painter, or similar.
Strong understanding of human anatomy, proportion, perspective, and composition.
Proficiency in Photoshop or equivalent 2D software for texture creation.
Demonstrated ability to work within a specific style, including a style set by another artist or Art Director.
Strong understanding of game development including workflow, tools, limits, and advancements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in Fine Arts or a related field.
Experience with Unreal Engine or other modern game engines.
Solid understanding of rigging and animation principles.
Strong traditional art skills (drawing, painting, sculpture).
Proficiency in hard-surface modeling.
Familiarity with game development pipelines and practices.
A strong portfolio demonstrating your character art skills.
Passionate gamer with knowledge of various gaming trends and styles.
Compensation Range: 93,000 - 151,000 CAD
