This is YOUR CHANCE to join our growing Security Operations team as a Security Engineer, taking technical leadership and ownership of the day-to-day security tasks that protect the Brivity Platform and the data of top real estate teams across North America. As our Security Engineer, you'll partner with (Manager), engineering, product, and QA teams to implement modern methods of protection and data recovery and stay ahead of the modern threat environment. You bring experience in identifying information security vulnerabilities and threats and developing effective mitigation recommendations. You operate with a security-first mindset and take pride in protecting high-value targets across an organization.
You are an expert at using approved tools to effectively scan, monitor, test, and analyze infosec vulnerabilities. You are comfortable triaging and investigating escalated alerts, and you thrive in a technical environment where you can configure and operate security scanning tools. You leverage AI tools to accelerate documentation and debug/testing, while maintaining a pragmatic approach to system integrity and availability.
You collaborate well across engineering, product, and QA teams to optimize alert rules and remediation plans. You are proactive about identifying scanning and monitoring gaps, and you bring a thoughtful approach to balancing real-time operational thinking with longer-term security goals and roadmaps.
What You'll Do
Configure and operate security scanning tools to effectively identify and analyze vulnerabilities
Remediate infrastructure vulnerabilities as they appear and put in place process to preemptively avoid recurrence
Triage, investigate, and escalate security alerts with remediation recommendations
Document procedures, best practices, and technical security standards
Collaborate with internal and external engineering teams to optimize alert rules and monitoring coverage
Provide technical thought leadership regarding the security of networks and systems
Identify scanning and monitoring gaps as well as ensuring all our dependencies are being fully audited
Support debug/testing and remediation management to enhance infosec posture
Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation to investigate and triage security alerts
Develop a deep knowledge of organizational systems, environments, and security tools
Ensure that products and services meet established security standards set by the company
Monitor networks and systems for intrusions and implement protection and recovery methods
Identify and advise on security risks associated with new development or system changes
Assist in providing access to users and applications using our security standards and best practices
Ideally You'll Have
Professional experience in security operations engineering or a similar cybersecurity role
Proven ability to triage, investigate, and document security vulnerabilities and threats
Proficiency with security scanning tools and monitoring platforms
Knowledge of modern threat environments, including attack vectors and mitigation best practices
Experience with methods of protection, data recovery, and incident response analysis
Comfort working in an on-call rotation and handling time-sensitive security alerts
Working knowledge of networks, systems, and cloud security environments
Strong communication skills for providing remediation reports to management and technical teams
Ability to operate as a skilled individual contributor with minimal supervision on core security tasks
Must be able to work Pacific Time Zone hours.
Salary Range: $140,000-$180,000/year depending on experience
