Why this role matters

The Release Train Engineer (RTE) is a pivotal role responsible for leading the Agile Release Train (ART) and coordinating the delivery of value through the program and portfolio. The ideal candidate will have experience in setting up and leading Agile teams, facilitating Agile ceremonies, and coordinating with stakeholders to ensure alignment and maximize efficiency.

What you will do

  • Drive agile at scale transformation in a rapidly changing organization with diversified levels of agile maturity

  • Lead the Agile Release Train (ART) and facilitate Agile ceremonies, such as PI Planning, System Demos, and Inspect and Adapt workshops.

  • Ensure alignment and collaboration between Agile teams, Product Management, Architecture, Engineering and Business Owners.

  • Manage and optimize the flow of value through the program and portfolio, including identifying and addressing impediments and dependencies.

  • Develop and maintain metrics and reports to track progress and identify areas for improvement.

  • Facilitate communication and collaboration across the program and portfolio, including managing stakeholders and communicating progress reports.

  • Work with other ART leaders and stakeholders to plan and coordinate the delivery of value through the program and portfolio.

  • Continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of Agile practices and make recommendations for improvement.

  • Provide coaching and guidance to Agile teams, and Product Owners to support their development and success.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on SAFe and Agile practices and provide training and guidance to other members of the organization as needed.

What you will bring

  • You’re well versed in Lean/Agile principles and a range of Lean/Agile methods but a slave to none - you know when to adapt your approach based on the context

  • You have had hands on experience of leading Agile transformations at scale and have a strong working knowledge of supporting tools (e.g. Jira/Jira Align)

  • You’re great at coaching and influencing people at all levels, and you’ve got experience working with senior leadership

  • You’re obsessed with continuous improvement, and you can tell us how you’ve made an impact in this area

  • You can be productive on your own or working with a team. Waiting around for approval is not for you - you’ve got ideas and the confidence to implement them

  • You’re experienced working in a fast-paced, dynamic multi-cultural environment with changing priorities and deadlines.

  • You are good at working collaboratively with cross-functional teams and experienced with conflict resolution

  • Strong communication skills - the ability to articulate complex technical issues in a clear and concise manner.

What is required for application

Required

  • Previous experience of applying Lean/Agile at scale

  • Proven track record of driving and managing change

Preferred

  • SAFe certified, such as SAFe Agilist (SA) or SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE).

  • Jira Admin experience

  • Jira Align experience

  • You have bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
