QA Analyst - LiveOps - Star Trek Fleet Command
Scopely is looking for a QA Analyst - LiveOps to join our Star Trek Fleet Command team within our Midcore division in the US on a remote basis.
At Scopely, we care deeply about what we do and want to inspire play every day - whether in our work environments alongside our talented colleagues or through our deep connections with our communities of players. We are a global team of game lovers who are developing, publishing and innovating the mobile games industry, connecting millions of people around the world daily.
Star Trek Fleet Command's ongoing success goes from strength to strength. Our in-house developed RPG was launched in 2018 and continues to evolve, being consistently one of the top 10 gross revenue Massive Multiplayer Strategy games on the market.
What You Will Do
Reporting into the LiveOps QA Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the quality efforts of Star Trek Fleet Command’s (STFC) Live Operations team, known as a Live Ops pod. You will collaborate with both internal and external (offshore) teams to ensure the smooth delivery of Live Ops releases—including events, bundles, and backend configurations—from planning through to launch, maintaining the highest quality standards through a combination of robust tools, communication, and disciplined processes.
As a key contributor to the culture of quality within Scopely, you will help shape how Live Ops continues to function, evolve, and optimize across cadence, coverage, and efficiency—helping us iterate faster without compromising on stability or player experience.
Engage early in the Live Ops cycle—during event briefs, configuration reviews, and pre-production syncs—to highlight testing tool or cheat needs, configuration risks, and quality considerations before launch
Generate clear, structured test plans that define scope, coverage, and resource needs for Live Ops releases (events, offers, backend changes, etc.)
Drive the creation, maintenance, and ownership of Live Ops-specific test suites and test cases, ensuring alignment with upcoming release cadences and priorities
Liaise and coordinate with offshore QA teams, clearly communicating expectations, priorities, and event-specific testing criteria, while monitoring execution and results
Lead by example through hands-on testing of live events, bundles, and time-sensitive releases, owning and maintaining quality accountability for your Live Ops pod’s output
Review and train external test partners to uphold Scopely QA standards, maintaining a clear and prioritized JIRA backlog in coordination with the Cluster QA Lead
Keep the Live Ops and Cluster leadership teams informed on milestone progression, blockers, and key risks throughout each release cycle
Participate actively in Live Ops and QA ceremonies to stay aligned with upcoming schedules, learnings, and performance insights
Ensure that Live Ops deliverables meet the highest quality expectations—both in terms of defect mitigation and user experience—and take holistic ownership for their impact on the live environment
Collaborate closely with Customer Support, Release Management, and the Live Cluster to investigate and resolve live issues quickly, documenting learnings and preventing future recurrences
Monitor live game health following each release—tracking ANRs, crash rates, and error trends via tools like Datadog, Google Play Console, and Apple Connect
Support onboarding and mentoring of external or embedded testers within your Live Ops pod
Work with the Cluster QA Manager and QA Director to align processes across pods and clusters, sharing learnings and driving consistency
Identify opportunities for test automation within Live Ops workflows to improve coverage and speed of verification
Participate in LUCI reviews to provide and receive feedback, contributing to both your growth and your peers’ development
Support the Cluster QA Manager in achieving team goals by tracking and owning KPOs / OKRs related to Live Ops quality metrics
Champion a “shift-left” mindset—identifying and mitigating issues earlier in the Live Ops production pipeline
Partner with the Live Ops Manager and Product Managers to understand the scope of configuration or data changes and their potential impact on connected systems and features
What We're Looking For
Strong verbal / written communication and an excellent attention to detail
Strong time management, accountability and organisational skills
An ability to negotiate and ensure you and your team's message is heard, all the while with a sound business understanding to ensure correct balance and needs are met
