Who we are & why we’re hiring

Twilio powers real-time business communications and data solutions that help companies and developers worldwide build better applications and customer experiences.

Although we're headquartered in San Francisco, we have presence throughout South America, Europe, Asia and Australia. We're on a journey to becoming a global company that actively opposes racism and all forms of oppression and bias. At Twilio, we support diversity, equity & inclusion wherever we do business.

About the job

This position is needed to lead strategic initiatives across the Controllership organization and steer multiple projects from ideation and strategy through planning, execution and go-live.

The Controllership Business Operations team is responsible for maintaining scalable project management and governance processes, driving process improvement efforts, and enabling our cross-functional teams to execute on priority initiatives quickly and effectively.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Lead multiple strategic initiatives simultaneously, working alongside members of the Controllership organization (Accounting, Tax, Payroll, S2P, OTC) and other cross-functional teams (Billing Platform, Financial Systems Enablement, IT/Support, ERP PMO, M&A, Finance) to ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budget.

  • Develop detailed project plans to ensure appropriate resourcing, monitor progress,  and flag risks.

  • Use appropriate tools and techniques to measure project and team performance against OKRs and support reporting of operational metrics.

  • Drive critical change management efforts. Communicate with the team and stakeholders throughout the project; focus on solving problems, and create a space where new ideas are encouraged, discussed, supported and developed.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to key business partners by collecting and refining business requirements and facilitating prioritization conversations.

  • Identify process improvement gaps and recommend continuous improvement on processes.

Qualifications

Not all applicants will have skills that match a job description exactly. Twilio values diverse experiences in other industries, and we encourage everyone who meets the required qualifications to apply. While having “desired” qualifications make for a strong candidate, we encourage applicants with alternative experiences to also apply. If your career is just starting or hasn't followed a traditional path, don't let that stop you from considering Twilio. We are always looking for people who will bring something new to the table!

Required:

  • 6 or more years project management experience across the project lifecycle (strategy>planning>execution) in Finance/Accounting, operations or financial systems

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple initiatives while executing tactical project level tasks

  • Demonstrated ability to navigate competing priorities in a fast-paced environment, including effective facilitation of prioritization and resource decisions

  • Deep understanding of project management systems and tools

  • Demonstrated success with structured critical thinking, change management, problem-solving, process re-engineering, business analysis, written and verbal communication.

  • Familiarity with best practices around internal controls; experience working in a SOX-compliant environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to influence horizontally and vertically and create effective working relationships with cross-functional teams at all levels of the organization

Desired:

  • Project Management or Agile Certification (PMP, SAFe, CSM, Six Sigma)

  • Experience with Oracle ERP, Anaplan, Zuora, Salesforce, Zendesk, LucidChart, Airtable

This role will be remote based in Canada, preferably EST/CST time zones.
