We're looking for a strategic and detail-oriented Product Owner with 3+ years of experience in financial products, who thrives in cross-functional environments and ensures successful delivery through structured backlog management, sharp analytical thinking, and close collaboration with engineering and business stakeholders.

About the Role

As Product Owner for Core Banking at Blossom, you will own the roadmap and delivery of our core banking migration product a modern Node.js platform replacing a legacy Java system used by Credit Unions across the U.S. You will work at the intersection of financial operations, engineering, and stakeholder management to ensure each module we ship is accurate, compliant, and operationally ready for our clients. You'll be responsible for modules that handle critical banking processes: transaction reconciliation, card exception management, posting, reversals, and more. This means you need to deeply understand how money moves and what happens when it doesn't.

This role requires someone who can turn complex core banking logic into clear user stories, manage multiple stakeholders across the U.S. and Colombia, and drive a phased migration that Credit Unions depend on daily.

What You'll Do

  • Own the product backlog and roadmap for core banking modules, prioritizing features based on business value, technical dependencies, and client impact.
  • Translate core banking workflows (reconciliation, posting, reversals, card processing) into precise, actionable user stories for the engineering team.
  • Collaborate daily with developers, QA, Scrum Master, and U.S.-based stakeholders (operations, implementations, sales) to validate requirements and unblock delivery.
  • Work closely with subject matter experts on the original core banking system to ensure functional parity and accuracy during migration.
  • Define and manage feature flags per module to control rollout across different Credit Union clients.
  • Coordinate across the four deployment environments (dev, QA, beta, production) and ensure readiness at each stage.
  • Identify gaps, exceptions, and edge cases in financial transaction flows and drive decisions on how to handle them.
  • Leverage AI tools to accelerate analysis, documentation, and requirement synthesis.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner in fintech, banking, or financial services.
  • Solid understanding of core banking concepts: transactions, reconciliation, posting, reversals, account management.
  • Experience with digital banking platforms, payment processing, or lending products.
  • Strong command of Agile methodologies (Scrum); comfortable in daily standups, sprint planning, and backlog refinement.
  • B2–C1 English level, you'll communicate regularly with the U.S. team (mandatory).
  • Ability to read and interpret structured financial data formats and understand how data flows between systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail errors in core banking have real financial consequences.
  • Educational background in Finance, Financial Engineering, Accounting, Economics, or Systems Engineering with financial exposure.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with Credit Unions or community financial institutions.
  • Familiarity with Node.js-based backend architectures (not as a developer, but enough to collaborate effectively).
  • Experience with configuration management tools or feature flag systems.
  • Exposure to card processing networks and transaction file formats.

What You'll Find Here

  • A product in active, high-impact migration, your decisions matter from day one.
  • A cross-functional team distributed between Colombia and the U.S.
  • An environment that actively encourages the use of AI tools to work smarter.
  • Direct access to stakeholders and real ownership over your product area.

Perks

  • 100% Remote Work
  • AI-Forward Culture: Work in a team that actively encourages and adopts AI tools to move faster and smarter
  • Multicultural Collaboration: Work side by side with teams in Colombia and the U.S., with real exposure to the American financial market
  • Growth Opportunities: A product in active expansion means room to grow into senior product or leadership roles
  • Continuous Learning – Mentorship, access to resources, and hands-on experience in one of the most complex domains in fintech
