This role sits at the intersection of engineering, customers, and healthcare regulation and is responsible for defining, building, and delivering products that make healthcare data available where it is needed—accurately, securely, and in real time. This is a highly cross-functional and customer-facing role. You will work closely with Engineering, Customer Success, Implementation, company leadership, and customers to translate complex healthcare problems into scalable product solutions. About Opala Opala is a healthcare data and interoperability company that helps health plans and providers access, exchange, and use healthcare data in real time. Our platform, Opala HealthSynq™, integrates clinical, claims, and administrative data to power interoperability, analytics, and operational workflows across the healthcare ecosystem. We help organizations meet evolving regulatory requirements, including CMS interoperability rules, while also unlocking the data foundation required for population health, value-based care, and AI-driven healthcare innovation. Minimum Qualifications
3–7 years of product management experience, preferably in healthcare or health technology
Experience working with technical products such as APIs, data platforms, SaaS products, or complex enterprise software
Demonstrated ability to translate complex customer, business, and technical problems into clear product requirements and solutions
Experience partnering closely with software engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience working directly with customers and cross-functional stakeholders
Ability to prioritize competing needs and make sound decisions with incomplete information
Comfortable taking ownership and operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with healthcare data, including claims, clinical, eligibility, ADT, provider, or member data
Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards and technologies such as HL7, FHIR, CDA, and APIs
Experience with CMS interoperability requirements and related healthcare regulations
Familiarity with Da Vinci Implementation Guides or other industry interoperability initiatives
Experience with data platforms, analytics, population health, or AI-enabled products
Experience working in a startup, growth-stage company, or similarly dynamic environment
Key Responsibilities Product Strategy & Roadmap
Own and drive roadmap priorities for assigned areas of Opala’s interoperability and data platform
Translate company strategy, regulatory requirements, market opportunities, and customer needs into clear product priorities
Contribute to and help shape Opala’s broader product vision for interoperability, longitudinal health data, and real-time data exchange
Evaluate competing opportunities and make thoughtful tradeoffs based on customer value, strategic alignment, scalability, effort, and business impact
Product Development
Translate complex problems into clear product requirements, user stories, workflows, and acceptance criteria
Partner closely with Engineering throughout discovery, design, development, and release
Own and prioritize the product backlog for assigned product areas
Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, product demos, and release planning
Make timely product decisions and resolve ambiguity as questions arise during development
Ensure products are scalable, reliable, secure, and aligned with relevant healthcare data and interoperability standards
Customer & Market Engagement
Engage directly with customers to understand workflows, pain points, data needs, and desired outcomes
Partner with Customer Success and Implementation to translate customer needs into scalable product capabilities
Distinguish customer-specific requirements from broader market needs and reusable product opportunities
Participate in customer meetings, product demonstrations, discovery sessions, and solution design discussions
Gather customer and market feedback and use it to inform product priorities and roadmap decisions
Develop a deep understanding of the healthcare interoperability landscape and emerging customer needs
Regulatory & Industry Alignment
Maintain a strong understanding of evolving CMS interoperability requirements and relevant industry standards and frameworks, including HL7 FHIR and Da Vinci Implementation Guides
Translate regulatory requirements into clear product capabilities and priorities
Partner with internal subject matter experts to anticipate regulatory and industry changes and incorporate them into product planning
Cross-Functional Leadership
Serve as a strong product partner across Engineering, Customer Success, Implementation, Sales, and company leadership
Drive alignment and clarity around product priorities, requirements, decisions, dependencies, and tradeoffs
Communicate product direction and release plans effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Contribute to product documentation, release communications, enablement, and internal training
Benefits:
The Seattle base salary range for this full-time position is up to $173k. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life and AD&D insurance, EAP, short-term and long-term disability, 16 days PTO, 8 paid holidays, fully paid holiday closure, parental and family medical leave, 401k, stock options and annual bonuses and salary increases based on merit.
