ev.energy set up in 2018 with a simple aim -  to make electric vehicle charging simpler, greener, and cheaper for everyone. Drivers download our app and charge their vehicle overnight; and, in the background, we’re ingesting real-time data and using our proprietary smart-charging algorithm to align charging sessions with energy from renewable sources. This reduces carbon emissions caused by EV charging by as much as 70%.

This is a growing industry, with growing demand for our solution - a third of new cars by 2030 will be electric. Simultaneously, there’s increasing strain on the power grid (power outages have already jumped by 64% in the last decade in the USA). We are already working with over 30 utilities in the US, Canada and Europe, offering a way to reduce demand on the grid.

To achieve this we’ve brought together a team of over 100 people, bringing expertise from previous roles at National Grid, Tesla, Amazon, Arcadia, and Chargepoint; we’ve secured over 50m USD from leading VCs in the automotive and energy space including National Grid Partners, WEX Venture Capital, Energy Impact Partners and JLR’s InMotion Ventures. Come help us drive change for the better.

The role

As the Product Manager for Driver Programs, you’ll be performing a really crucial role by finding ways to satisfy utility and driver goals as well as lowering our cost to serve them. You’ll work creatively to define a highly impactful product roadmap for the Driver Programs team. You’ll develop a deep empathy for end users and commercial clients alike by partnering with our commercial team to build relationships and engage in regular discovery as well as by owning and measuring key metrics. You’ll work as part of an excellent cross-functional team of great software engineers and talented designers to execute on your roadmap, as well as collaborating with your peers in product. You’ll report into the Senior Product Manager for Driver Experience, based in the UK.

To succeed in this role, you will focus on the following:

  • Prioritizing your roadmap initiatives effectively, to make a measurable impact on metrics

  • Building excellent relationships with key stakeholders across the business, within commercial, tech and beyond

  • Refining and understanding closely the key metrics for your scope, ensuring that they ladder up to the over-arching business strategy

  • Developing key hypotheses and validating them with customer discovery

  • Establishing effective ways of working to execute as part of a cross-functional team of engineers and designers

What will you do?

  • Work closely with the Senior Product Manager in Driver Experience to collaborate on the overall product strategy for your space

  • Be accountable for the Driver Programs team’s product outcomes

  • Own the elements of the driver experience which are specific to utility programs, including incentives and user engagement as well as program architecture and configuration

  • Lead discovery activities with the Product Designer and Tech Lead in your team, driving your team’s work with insights from both end users and commercial clients

  • Create and refine dashboards in collaboration with the data team, building rituals that place metrics at the centre of your team’s work

  • Work closely as a key member in a cross-functional team of designers and engineers to define the best solutions to the right problems

  • Proactively participate as a member of the product team, driving continuous improvement in our product processes and approach wherever possible

  • Act as a trusted partner to our commercial team, by building great relationships and a strong understanding of the utility market landscape

What are we looking for?

  • Experience of product management in a B2C company

  • You understand the trade-offs between quality and delivering fast and can be pragmatic, with the ability to encourage the same outlook in others

  • Excellent ability to build relationships with commercial folks, peers and other stakeholders across the business; you’ll be able to communicate clearly and succinctly

  • Experience of different discovery techniques - like user interviews, focus groups and surveys - to ensure the needs of customers are truly understood

  • Experience of working as part of an agile, cross-functional team on software development

  • Ideally, experience or interest in the EV or green energy sector - passion in the mission is important at ev.energy

How will we support you?

  • Work remotely and work well - we'll provide the tools you need to do your best (including a Macbook Pro), and can provide access to co-working spaces

  • Access to conferences, meet-ups and training through our L&D allowance

  • A structured career progression framework and advancement opportunities

  • Great benefits - including health insurance, 401(k) or pension, paid parental leave

  • Annual team gatherings - in previous years the whole company has spent a week together in London, Bath and Manchester in the UK

If you don’t have all of the requirements, but you’re really interested in what we’re doing, please apply anyway and we can consider your application now and in future! We value applicants regardless of their background or years of experience. We'll also do our best to accommodate reasonable adjustments to the interview process if needed.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity: we do not discriminate based on race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status or disability status. If you'd like a copy of our DE&I policy you can reach us at hiring@ev.energy.
