Our mission is to unlock the collaborative power of communities by making Web3 universally easy to use, access, and build on.

Working with Consensys puts you at the forefront of an evolving paradigm, transforming our society for the better. We fundamentally believe blockchain is the next generation of technology that can lay the foundation for a more just and equitable society.

Blockchain tech is just over 10 years old. Ethereum itself is still a toddler and we’re far from reaching our full potential. You’ll get to work on the tools, infrastructure, and apps that scale these platforms to billions of users.

You’ll be constantly exposed to new concepts, ideas, and frameworks from your peers, and as you work on different projects — challenging you to stay at the top of your game. You’ll join a network of entrepreneurs and technologists that reaches the edge of our ecosystem. Consensys alumni have moved on to become tech entrepreneurs, CEOs, and team leads at tech companies.

About Besu

Besu is an open-source Ethereum client written in Java, known for its scalability and performance. It currently powers around 10% of Ethereum mainnet nodes. Besu has a strong community of contributors, including several maintainers who are employees of Consensys. Besu's open-source nature ensures it remains accessible to all, fostering collaboration and innovation across the Ethereum ecosystem. Consensys is committed to supporting Ethereum development and promoting client diversity.

What you’ll do

As Product Manager for Besu, you will be at the forefront of shaping the future of Ethereum. Working closely with a talented engineering team, you will identify opportunities, distill customer needs, and define the product vision, strategy, and roadmap. You'll engage with the broader Ethereum community—including researchers, engineers, and product leads across the ecosystem—to drive the evolution of Besu as a critical part of the decentralized landscape. As part of Consensys, you will be exposed to internal clients such as Infura, Consensys Staking and Linea. Those groups/teams should be seen as key stakeholders with whom you will interact constantly.

You will play an integral role in building next generation blockchain networks and products, ensuring that Besu is not only reliable but also pushes the boundaries of innovation. This role offers the chance to grow alongside industry leaders and be part of AllCoreDevs (core contributors to Ethereum protocol - more information can be found on the official Ethereum YouTube channel and on this GitHub repo) to tackle the challenges of a rapidly advancing technology. You will manage a product that is intrinsically built with an open-source mindset, so you will be asked to clearly communicate with the Ethereum open-source community and inform Consensys key stakeholders of the latest developments.

You will use your strong communication and collaboration skills to deliver impact across functions in our distributed environment. You will seek to grow in your role and the community to become a strong voice within the AllCoreDevs. Your proven track record of strategic prioritization, execution, and reporting will set you up for success in our dynamic environment, ensuring Besu is among the strongest Ethereum clients.

Would be great if you brought this to the role

  • Builder Mindset: You have a deep understanding of a diverse user base, including developers and operators, and can synthesize their needs into actionable product insights.

  • Deep Curiosity for Web3:  You’re eager to explore the Web3 ecosystem and continuously learn new concepts.

  • Navigating Ambiguity: You have a knack for bringing clarity to uncertain situations, turning them into clear strategies, roadmaps, and action plans.

  • Self-Driven and Autonomous: You excel in empowered, autonomous settings and consistently create efficient, iterative feedback loops (build, measure, learn).

  • Technical Fluency: You're comfortable discussing the high-level benefits of products and diving into the technical details, thanks to your background in technology.

  • Open Source and Community Engagement: You have a background in working with open-source software development and know how to build meaningful relationships with community members, such as the All Core Developers (ACD) and Ethereum community leaders.

  • Bonus points for:

    • Technical Fluency in Blockchain: Your knowledge of blockchain architecture, protocols, Layer 2s, smart contracts, and scalability challenges will help you succeed in the role.

    • Agility with Emerging Technologies: You’re adaptable, not only keeping up with rapid advancements in blockchain but also thinking critically about how technologies like zero-knowledge proofs (zkEVM)  can impact the ecosystem and enhance Consensys’ products.

Don't check all of the boxes? Don't sweat it. We’re passionate about building a diverse team of humans and, as such, if you think you've got what it takes for our chaotic-but-fun, remote-friendly, start-up environment—apply anyway. While we have a pretty good idea of what we need, we're ready for you to challenge our thinking on who needs to be in this role.

Consensys is an equal opportunity employer. We encourage people from all backgrounds to apply. We are committed to ensuring that our technology is made available and accessible to everyone. All employment decisions are made without regard to race, color, national origin, ancestry, sex, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, genetic information, religion, disability, medical condition, pregnancy, marital status, family status, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.

Consensys is aware of fraudulent recruitment practices and we encourage all applicants to review our best practices to protect yourself which can be found here.
