Octopus Deploy sets the standard for Continuous Delivery, empowering software teams to deliver value in an agile way. Over 4,000 organizations globally –  including Ubisoft, ASOS, Xero, monday.com, Stack Overflow, NASA, and Disney – rely on our Continuous Delivery, GitOps, and release orchestration solutions.

Founded in Australia in 2012, our team of over 270 Octonauts now spans the globe. We combine high growth and big ambitions with a sustainable, balanced working environment. Our revenue has grown consistently between 30–50% every year for the past 8 years, and we’ve been profitable for 10 out of the past 11 years. [In 2024, Octopus Deploy acquired Argo maintainers, Codefresh, the leaders in enterprise GitOps.] Octopus now provides the industry's most comprehensive Continuous Delivery solution for organizations operating at scale.

We’ve been remote-first since 2015 and work with an uncommon level of transparency. You can read our public handbook to learn how we work. We have a transparent approach to compensation that ensures people doing the same work with the same skill get paid the same, with well-defined career pathways. We foster a supportive, collaborative, and high-trust environment. We leave our job titles at the door and focus on doing what’s best for our customers and team. Our leaders never shy away from answering the tough questions at our all-hands calls or in 1:1s. We conduct interviews and onboarding virtually as part of being a remote-first company.

The Role

Imagine being the first designer on the Fire & Motion team! They're itching for your skill set to tackle valuable projects like Deployment Freezes and Bulk Approval for Manual Interventions. You get to solve real user issues and make life easier for our customers. The team is subdivided into 2 sub-teams who rotate every 6 weeks between small improvements project work and reactive work. The team works across the whole product so there’s a huge variety of work to keep things fresh. With nine engineers, a Product Manager, and an Engineering Manager, it's a tight-knit crew geared for big wins.

As the team’s Product Designer, your role will be to solve problems that meet our users’ needs and align with the team’s strategy. You’ll help deliver tactical work aligned to the team’s mission.

As a member of the Design Team, you’ll stay connected and supported through team rituals that encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing.

This is a remote role based in Australia or New Zealand.

The compensation of this role is:

Maturing: $110k AUD/$120k NZD Performing: $125k AUD/$135k NZD + stock options

You will be a great fit for this role if you have:

  • 2+ years of experience in a Product Design role at another software company, preferably B2B.

  • Previously worked alongside Product Managers and Engineers in an agile environment.

  • A portfolio that demonstrates experience shipping UX/UI design for software and a firm grasp of UX methodologies and interaction design.

  • Experience providing valuable insights by using various qualitative and quantitative research methods.

  • An understanding of the need for consistency, reducing UX debt and the value of design systems.

  • Proficiency with industry design tools such as Figma and Whimsical/Miro.

You will enjoy this role if:

  • You are able to work independently, motivating yourself and your team to do high-quality work.

  • You are a results-oriented person, someone who is focused on iteratively delivering valuable things to your customers, someone who willingly changes direction based on clear and transparent business information, and someone who helps others do the same.

A typical day might include:

  • Working with your team’s Product Manager to conduct user research such as user interviews or usability testing.
