The Difference You Will Make:
The Principal, Technology FP&A will work closely with Airbnb’s technical leadership in support of efforts to help Airbnb innovate and grow efficiently. Work will include running monthly financial reviews with executives, building models to help understand cloud computing costs, analysis of potential new product features, and running a best-in-class budget planning process for our engineering organization.
A Typical Day:
Partner with the Cloud Efficiency team to monitor usage of computing resources, identify unusual trends, analyze efficiency opportunities, and influence engineering teams to optimize technology.
Develop trusted advisor relationships with engineering leaders across Airbnb. Help product and infrastructure teams understand the costs and efficiency opportunities related to their work.
Build, maintain and continuously optimize financial models to be used for budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and long range planning.
Support our Supplier Sourcing team by analyzing price terms in negotiations with technology vendors. Ensure Airbnb receives best-in-class pricing, purchases the right amount of resources, and is protected against various supplier risks.
Manage the overall CTO related COGS and Opex budget from a P&L perspective, consisting of headcount, contractors, and software related expenses.
Stay up to date on cloud computing economics and industry trends. Highlight key risks and opportunities to our CTO and CFO in monthly reviews.
Your Expertise:
Meaningful previous work experience in an analytical role supporting infrastructure leaders, including familiarity with common industry terms and operational metrics
Executive presence and strong communication skills; ability to translate technical concepts into clear financial models and presentations
Prior experience creating a framework to understand infrastructure financial drivers in spite of challenges presented by complexity, lack of data, lack of processes, etc.
Genuine passion for technology and finance
Familiarity with SQL and data visualization software (Tableau) is a plus
Proficiency with financial forecasting systems (Anaplan, Hyperion) is a plus

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager.
