LOCATION

This is a fully remote role. Fully remote candidates must reside in the USA and be able to able to work a corporate day shift schedule on EST or CST time. Additionally, annual travel will be required, to participate in on-site team meetings and trainings. Our ideal candidate will live near our Baltimore, MD headquarters or Chicago, IL office and be able to participate in occasional in-office meetings and collaboration, as needed.

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Principal, Retail Market Development will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to expand our retail energy markets.  The successful candidate will coordinate with Constellation&rsquos State Government Affairs team to defend competitive markets and advocate for policies that bring the benefits of retail energy choice to our business and customers. 

The person will work across the commercial organization to keep retail leadership informed about upcoming and potential policy changes that may affect our business develop new retail energy market entry strategies for new and existing products and identify, evaluate, and pursue new retail market growth opportunities.

This role requires a self-motivated, highly adaptable, and resourceful individual comfortable with change and complexity. The successful candidate will juggle diverse responsibilities, with the role evolving based on evolving market and policy conditions, and organizational needs. 

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Advocate for favorable retail energy market policies in coordination with key stakeholders (20%)
  • Develop and execute strategies to defend retail energy markets and advance competition (20%)
  • Identify, evaluate, and pursue new retail market growth opportunities (10%)
  • Prepare and facilitate key strategy, leadership, and business review meetings (10%)
  • Develop new retail energy market entry strategies for new and existing products (10%)
  • Provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership on retail market opportunities (10%)
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders on potential policy changes that could impact our business (10%)
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the retail energy market (5%)
  • Support development and launch of new retail products, services, and markets (5%)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor&rsquos Degree in business, policy, finance, economics, or another business-related field. 
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in market or product development, or market management.
  • Strong organizational skills including ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across functions and as a part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills that motivate teams and drive results.
  • Creative problem-solving skills, strong business acumen, and an understanding of group & corporate dynamics.
  • Demonstrated ability to employ sound judgment in complex situations.
  • Self-motivated and driven.
  • Passion for learning new concepts.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience influencing the Regulatory, Legislative and Policy process.
  • 5 years of industry experience and expertise in working across regions and products.
  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis tools such as Microsoft Excel, SQL, or Salesforce.
  • Ability to influence senior leaders and all levels of individual contributors.
  • Experience managing budgets
