Opportunity at a Glance: We are interested in developing long-term relationships with superior instructors who have high professional standards, excellent communication skills, enthusiasm and a commitment to providing the finest practitioner-focused education. We are seeking primarily Industry Professionals to share their knowledge and experience with undergraduate and graduate students in a variety of fields.
POLI-330: Political Science
This course examines the structures of American government and explores how government, politics, and society are interconnected. Topics covered in this class include political parties and campaigns, the presidency, courts, Congress, the Constitution and Federalism, public opinion and news media and their influence on the political process, domestic and foreign policy, public opinion, interest groups, and social movements. Students will also be required to examine their state constitution for core principles and how federal and state governments both play a key role in their lives as individual citizens
Responsibilities
Develops and provides students with an approved syllabus which includes the terminal course objectives.
Uses appropriate technological options for online technologies and course-related software, including Websites, e-mail, and online discussions for preparing the course and making it accessible to students.
Models effective strategized communications that engage online students, provide clarity, and improve student learning.
Sets clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives, assignment/examinations dates, and weight the distribution of various evaluation categories.
Ensures that the content and level of material included on exams correspond to the course terminal objectives.
Demonstrates consistency and fairness in the preparation and grading of exams, and provide timely feedback to students.

The preparation, administration, marking and reporting of examinations
Undergo training to qualify as a facilitator in the problem-based learning program Supervise educational activities of students under actual or simulated situations
Prepare instructional plans and career analyses to reflect current changes in the field
Advise individuals or groups of students in academic matters and exercise professional judgment in referring students to appropriate personnel
Develop new instructional materials and teaching techniques with participation in on-going reviews and revision of curriculum planning
Actively participate in relevant professional activities in order to improve teaching and subject matter competence
Serve on faculty committees as appointed or elected, and confer with advisory groups in order to modify course content
Prepare, administer and evaluate examinations to assess the development of student accomplishments
Complies with all policies and standards
Qualifications
You are encouraged to explore this opportunity if you meet the following criteria:
A Master or PhD in political science, public policy, or public administration. Studies with 18+ earned graduate credit hours directly in coursework
Are able to provide official transcripts for all earned degrees from a regionally accredited institution and/or, for degrees earned outside of the US, a course-by-course US equivalency evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator
Prior higher education teaching experience is required
Solid subject matter expertise and outstanding communication skills
Excellent motivational and instructional skills to be effective in a non-traditional environment
Must be able to work in a collegial manner and facilitate the efforts of diverse groups
Knowledge of MS office products
Have exceptional subject matter expertise as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills
Are eager to serve students and colleagues with passion, respect and care
Operate with a sense of responsibility and purpose with the desire to enrich colleagues, students and the broader community
Have a strong work ethic, learn from mistakes, build positive spirit and always look for a better way
Put the team first, appreciate diverse points of view, assume positive intent, collaborate and communicate openly
Additional Information
Chamberlain Visiting Professor Position - Online: In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected compensation rate for this position is between $715/Earned Credit Hour to $1,950/Earned Credit Hour, depending on the candidate’s education and experience. Actual pay may be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as type of course taught; experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
