The Community You Will Join 

The Tax Controversy team is responsible for developing and implementing Airbnb’s global audit strategy and, including determining a vision for global tax disputes and coordinating and leading responses with tax authorities worldwide. The tax controversy team collaborates across all areas of the tax group, legal, and policy in responding to audit and tax litigation issues involving Airbnb’s direct and indirect taxes worldwide. This role allows a candidate to be immersed in a variety of tax issues and high profile tax disputes, and will work with the Director of Tax Controversy, outside advisors, and across departments at Airbnb to respond to global tax authorities and support the company’s return positions.  

The Difference You Will Make 

You will be responsible for helping the Tax Controversy team deliver superior tax audit and litigation results. We’re looking for a Paralegal to join our team and support our growing business by providing legal expertise and operational efficiency in Tax Controversy and across the Tax team. 

A Typical Day 

  • Provide substantive support for tax disputes in audits, administrative forums, and tax litigation.

  • Work with members of the Tax team and the business to respond to discovery by coordinating written responses and document collection.

  • Manage day-to-day calendaring of audits and tax litigation deadlines

  • Implement and maintain systems for organizing tax controversy productions

  • Maintain and update databases of key documents for the Tax team

  • Update tax controversy trackers and resource materials

  • Implement and refine internal processes across the Tax team for executing agreements, maintaining records, and coordinating with stakeholders

  • Coordinate with Airbnb business and legal stakeholders to ensure compliance and processes are in place

Your Expertise 

  • Bachelor’s degree 

  • 4-8+ years of experience as a paralegal, preferably with experience in tax or financial concepts

  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities

  • Familiarity with tax audits and litigation a plus

  • Knowledge of corporate regulatory compliance a plus

Your Location:

This position is US - Remote Eligible. Candidates must have the ability to work during Pacific Standard Time.The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. While the position is Remote Eligible, you must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity. Click here for the up-to-date list of excluded states.
