Role Description

At Dropbox, we believe in simplifying the way people work together. We provide a range of innovative cloud-based solutions to empower individuals and businesses to share, access, and collaborate on their files seamlessly. Engineering Managers are pivotal in shaping our mission of building a more enlightened way of working where everyone can unleash their creative potential without constraints.

As the Mobile Engineering Manager of the Mobile Retention team, you will be responsible for managing a team of iOS & Android engineers working on the Dropbox apps. You will work within an Engineering, Product, and Design triad to shape the roadmap, set direction, and ensure strong execution. You will play a crucial role in helping the mobile apps to meet the needs of our customers, overseeing critical functionality such as the ability to preview content. As the mobile org is a small and tight community, this role includes outsized impact and an ability to influence the critical Dropbox business.

Our Engineering Career Framework is viewable by anyone outside the company and describes what’s expected for our engineers at each of our career levels. Check out our blog post on this topic and more here.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team responsible for critical business metrics, delivering impactful projects on time and measuring their impact

  • Navigate complex business landscapes, working with key partners in EPD (Engineering-Product-Design) & Data Science, to find new opportunities to grow the mobile business

  • Drive results by identifying impactful opportunities and ensuring long-term growth, maintainability, and customer impact.

  • Inspire your team with a clear direction, fostering an environment where innovation flourishes and bold ideas are encouraged.

  • Foster talent development by supporting personal growth, career advancement, and equitable hiring practices.

  • Cultivate a collaborative and inclusive culture, championing team members and upholding our company values.

  • Ensure software and architecture excellence through quality feedback, risk mitigation, and alignment with technical strategy and business goals.

Many teams at Dropbox run Services with on-call rotations, which entails being available for calls during both core and non-core business hours. If a team has an on-call rotation, all engineers on the team are expected to participate in the rotation as part of their employment. Applicants are encouraged to ask for more details of the rotations to which the applicant is applying.
