About the job

As a Medior AI Developer you add full-time build capacity to the team. You pick up well-defined items from our roadmap and backlog, work them with limited supervision, and take them through to production. This is new development on products that are live and in daily use. The role is deliberately not a maintenance or BAU support seat, and it isn’t a blank-page greenfield project either. If you enjoy shipping features that real users feel the next day, you’ll be at home here.

You’ll work closely with our Product Owner and senior engineers, take part in technical discussion and code review, and help raise the team’s standard through documentation and proactive knowledge sharing.

The AI Apps team builds and operates 5CA’s internal platforms and client-facing customer-experience solutions on Microsoft Azure. We are mid-way through an ambitious modernization programme — migrating our core business platforms off the Power Platform onto a modern, Azure-native stack — and we apply AI inside those platforms as we go. This is applied AI engineering: we integrate Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, and Microsoft Copilot into production applications. We don’t train models or build ML pipelines — we ship working software that uses them.
 
Position shift: 09:00 - 18:00 CEST. 

Responsibilities

• Build and deliver features and components of our platforms and AI solutions in C#/.NET and Azure Functions, owning well-defined items end-to-end through to production
• Implement AI integrations using Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, and Microsoft Copilot, and contribute to prompt and grounding design
• Design, develop, and test REST API integrations between our platforms and client systems
• Work with Azure SQL and Entity Framework Core within our established data models and tenant-isolation patterns, and propose improvements where those patterns fall short
• Work to the team’s engineering practices, including Git, GitHub Actions CI/CD, code review, and AI-augmented development, and review colleagues’ work
• Instrument what you build, monitor it in production, and act on what the telemetry shows
• Break assigned items into deliverable steps, provide realistic estimates, and flag risks to scope or timeline early
• Document what you build to team standards and proactively share knowledge with the team
• Refine requirements with the Product Owner and engineering colleagues, understanding the user and client impact of what you build

About You

• 2+ years of professional experience in software development
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent hands-on software development experience
• Proven proficiency in C# and .NET, including experience building and consuming REST APIs
• Experience working with relational databases and object-relational mapping frameworks such as Azure SQL and Entity Framework Core, or comparable technologies
• Familiarity with Git-based development workflows and CI/CD practices in a professional environment
• Professional working proficiency in both written and spoken English
• Ability to work independently on clearly defined tasks and escalate challenges with proposed solutions rather than problems alone
• Strong written communication skills with a structured approach to documentation and knowledge sharing
• Comfortable collaborating asynchronously within a distributed, remote-first team environment

Having the following will be considered advantageous to your application:

• Experience working with Azure services such as Azure Functions, Azure SQL, Azure AI services, and Application Insights, or equivalent cloud technologies with transferable skills
• Hands-on experience developing solutions with large language model (LLM) APIs and AI development frameworks, such as Anthropic Claude, Azure AI Foundry, or similar technologies
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools, including GitHub Copilot or comparable solutions, within established team workflows and engineering practices
• A strong product mindset, with the ability to connect technical decisions to user needs, client outcomes, and overall business value

Technical Requirements

• A minimum internet speed of 15 Mb/s download and 15 Mb/s upload with Latency <120 ms, internationally
• A minimum of 8 GB RAM  
• Windows 11 (All editions except Windows S Mode), or macOS 13.0 or newer
• A processor with a CPU Mark of at least 7368 or higher, similar to i5-8300H (Has to be 8th Gen Intel or above, if Ryzen, 2nd Gen or above)
• An Integrated Graphics card.
• A smartphone usable for two-factor authentication that runs at least:
  • Android 10.0 or newer
  • Apple iOS 16.0 or newer
