We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Manager of Search to help build a new dynamic team. As a company dedicated to making design accessible to all, we are looking for someone who shares our passion and is excited about driving innovation in the field. Born on the Web, Figma helps entire product teams brainstorm, create, test, and ship better designs, together. From great products to long-lasting companies, we believe that nothing great is made alone—come make with us!
In this role, you will be responsible for leading teams of talented individuals focused on developing and optimizing our search capabilities to help users find the things they need in easier and incremental ways. You will play a critical role in shaping the strategic direction of our search product and infrastructure while driving its success from the ground up. Collaboration will be key, as you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, and data science, to ensure a seamless and effective search experience for our users.
What you’ll do at Figma:
Lead and support a team of managers and engineers responsible for developing and improving Figma's search capabilities.
Collaborate with product, engineering, and data science teams to define strategic goals and establish a roadmap for search product development.
Dive deep into technical challenges related to scale, ensuring that our search capabilities can handle new indices and mappings with increasing volumes of data and user interactions.
Recruit, mentor, and retain high-performing engineers. You'll contribute to a culture of innovation, collaboration, and calculated risk-taking.
Drive innovation in 0->1 product areas, exploring and implementing new search technologies and techniques to enhance user experience.
Leverage your expertise in generative AI and scale to improve our search algorithms and deliver more accurate and personalized results
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
5+ years of experience hiring and leading teams as an engineering manager with at least 2 years of experience managing managers.
Previous experience in driving the development and optimization of search capabilities, preferably within a fast-paced and high-growth environment.
Strong software engineering background, with experience in tackling complex technical challenges related to large-scale performance challenges.
Excitement and curiosity for 0->1 product development, with a track record of turning innovative ideas into successful features.
While not required, it’s an added plus if you also have:
Knowledge and experience in generative AI and its application to search.
Familiarity with natural language processing and machine learning techniques in the context of search.
Experience digging into product analytics and data yourself to help create new opportunities or investment areas for your team
At Figma, one of our values is Grow as you go. We believe in hiring smart, curious people who are excited to learn and develop their skills. If you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with the points outlined in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyways. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
