The Frontend Platform team's mission is to empower Figma’s frontend web developers to quickly adopt best practices, create features, and own performance and quality end-to-end. This team defines and builds the frameworks and best practices for Figma’s Frontend Javascript and Typescript codebase. As an Engineering Manager, you will reshape how Figma’s client codebase is organized to make it more modular and performant, with the appropriate abstractions on the client side. The team also owns the tooling and build deployment frameworks that enables us to efficiently ship performant, high-quality frontend code as we scale Figma engineering.

What you’ll do at Figma:

  • Manage, support, and grow a team of experienced engineers to drive Figma’s frontend technical strategy.

  • Empower our internal frontend developers to quickly ship high-quality features.

  • Roll up your sleeves as needed to get involved in the technical details of creating a world-class frontend codebase.

  • Partner with product and engineering leadership to set strategy, priorities, and mission for teams and projects.

  • Establish trust within and across teams by creating accountability and a positive work environment in partnership with other leaders in the organization.

  • Grow your career in an engaged and creative engineering community.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • 8+ years of frontend engineering experience

  • 3+ years of engineering management experience

  • Extensive experience with Typescript and React

  • Experience building complex web applications with modern frameworks

  • Demonstrated leadership skills in building a high-performing and highly engaged engineering team; including a proven track record of motivating, mentoring, and guiding senior engineers.

  • Figma is committed to building an inclusive and diverse team and culture. We expect all of our leaders to play a role in helping to build and drive these initiatives through hiring, community events, and other programs in partnership with teams across all of Figma.

While not required, it’s an added plus if you also have:

  • Experience working with other web frameworks like Redux, Atoms

  • Experience with tools and frameworks for building Web applications like Webpack, CSS tools like Tailwind

  • Experience with CI/CD of Web applications adopting best practices for testing and observability like Sentry, Datadog

At Figma, one of our values is Grow as you go. We believe in hiring smart, curious people who are excited to learn and develop their skills. If you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with the points outlined in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyways. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
