Manager - Software Engineering (FigJam)
FigJam is Figma’s online whiteboard for teams to ideate and brainstorm together. Purpose-built for every stage of your end-to-end workflows, FigJam makes everything from whiteboarding to design sprints easier and more fun — whether you’re working alone or collaborating with your extended team, no matter where in the world they’re based.
We are looking to grow our team of Engineering Managers to support one or multiple cross-functional teams working on various aspects of the FigJam product, as well as some newer, exploratory product opportunities. This is a great opportunity if you enjoy working closely with cross-functional partners from product, design, research, and data to not just shape how a product gets built, but also what to build and how to bring it to market.
What you’ll do at Figma:
Manage and support a team of product engineers focused on building best of class new product experiences for FigJam and other initiatives.
Partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to coordinate work across product, design, engineering, and other functions.
Provide hands-on technical leadership to your teams and others that collaborate with your teams to ensure a cohesive product experience and the right technical abstractions.
Recruit, mentor and retain high performing engineers (and help with other cross functional roles). You’ll foster a culture of innovation, collaboration and taking calculated risks.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
2+ years of experience managing software engineers working on products used by external users.
A proven track record of building products (both as a manager and individual contributor) that are best in class in user experience.
A relentless focus on business impact through product & engineering excellence.
Demonstrated leadership skills in building a high-performing and highly engaged engineering team; including mentoring, and growing senior engineers.
While not required, it’s an added plus if you also have:
Hands-on experience building complex collaborative editing tools (such as Figma or FigJam).
Expert technical knowledge in either web technologies or graphics engines.
At Figma, one of our values is Grow as you go. We believe in hiring smart, curious people who are excited to learn and develop their skills. If you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with the points outlined in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyways. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
