The team

Kraken’s Policy & Government Relations team manages relationships with policymakers, government bodies, regulators, and institutions. We provide strategic guidance and support policy initiatives that impact Kraken’s operations and the broader crypto space.

We are looking for a Manager, Policy & Government Relations to help shape the policy and regulatory landscape in Canada. In this role, you will provide strategic advice on public policy developments, represent Kraken at events and panels, and build trusted relationships across the Canadian ecosystem, all while keeping a global view. You will also support the broader Americas Policy & Government Relations team as needed.

Reporting to a senior leader, this individual contributor role offers a unique opportunity for a motivated professional eager to shape the future of crypto while working with one of the most trusted and recognizable names in digital assets.

The opportunity

  • Develop Kraken’s policy positions in Canada to help influence policy outcomes.

  • Educate policymakers, institutions, government bodies, and regulators on the evolution of digital assets and Kraken’s role.

  • Draft comment letters, consultation responses, and policy papers that advocate for responsible innovation in the digital assets space.

  • Build and nurture long-term relationships with Canadian policymakers, regulators, and industry influencers at both the federal and provincial level.

  • Monitor, analyze, and engage on relevant legislative and regulatory initiatives impacting digital assets and financial services in Canada.

  • Contribute to public discourse by participating in and representing Kraken at industry events, forums, and regulatory roundtables.

  • Partner closely with colleagues in regulatory, compliance, communications, and product teams to align policy strategy with business priorities.

  • Provide timely updates and clear analysis to relevant internal teams and senior leaders as policy and regulatory developments emerge, ensuring business stakeholders stay informed on potential impacts to Kraken’s operations.

  • Support the broader Americas team on cross-border issues, regional initiatives, and priority projects as needed.

  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

Skills you should HODL

  • 7+ years of experience in public policy, government affairs, or regulatory engagement. This experience is ideally within financial services with a mix of traditional finance and crypto currency.

  • Experience engaging with Canadian policymakers and regulators, with strong knowledge of Canada’s financial services and digital asset regulatory landscape.

  • Passion for the cryptocurrency world and a learning mindset about new crypto industry trends.

  • Proficient in drafting policy documents and clearly articulating complex topics about digital assets to varied audiences.

  • A strong personal network within Canadian government and regulatory bodies and relevant associations is a plus.

  • Ability to build meaningful partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders across all levels and backgrounds.

  • Willingness to travel to represent Kraken at events and conferences representing up to 10% of time.

  • Based in Canada and fluent in English (French is a plus).
