Your career is an investment that grows over time!

Wealthsimple is on a mission to help everyone achieve financial freedom by reimagining what it means to manage your money. Using smart technology, we take financial services that are often confusing, opaque and expensive and make them transparent and low-cost for everyone. We’re the largest fintech company in Canada, with over 4 million users who trust us with more than $50 billion in assets.

Our teams ship often and make an impact with groundbreaking ideas. We're looking for talented people who keep it simple and value collaboration and humility as we continue to create inclusive and high-performing teams where people can be inspired to do their best work.

We’re looking for a Payments Regulatory Compliance Manager to join our growing Compliance team. This role will support the Director of Payment Operations & Compliance and focus on the end-to-end management of compliance programs tied to our Banking, Credit Card, and Prepaid products. You’ll oversee Wealthsimple’s compliance with payment regulations including the Retail Payment Activities Act (RPAA) and Visa/Mastercard network rules, working closely with our Product, Legal, and Operations teams to ensure scalable and compliant launches.

This is a new role created as part of the Payments team restructure. You’ll be responsible for building sustainable programs, enabling internal alignment, and using tools like Notebook LM to help automate and accelerate execution.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation and management of compliance programs aligned with RPAA, card network requirements (e.g., Visa), and relevant licensing or registration needs.

  • Oversee day-to-day controls and monitoring for the Banking and Credit Card compliance programs.

  • Serve as the internal subject-matter expert for payments regulation, licensing, and risk controls related to safeguarding, operational risk, and program governance.

  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Operations teams to embed compliance into product development and lifecycle management.

  • Draft and maintain policies, procedures, and internal guidance for applicable compliance requirements.

  • Support regulatory reporting and audit readiness, including regulator inquiries, risk assessments, and network attestations.

  • Identify and triage compliance risks related to payment program expansions or enhancements.

  • Leverage automation tools (e.g., Notebook LM) to streamline program execution and reduce overhead.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to scale programs efficiently and support junior team member enablement.

  • Contribute to internal training and awareness to strengthen payment regulatory knowledge across teams.

Ideal candidate:

  • 5+ years of experience in payments compliance, regulatory risk, or operations within fintech, banking, or payment networks.

  • Strong understanding of Canadian payments regulation (RPAA, FINTRAC, FCAC, OSFI) and Visa/Mastercard network rules.

  • Experience supporting card or prepaid programs, PSP licensing, or retail payment frameworks.

  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and building new processes from the ground up.

  • Excellent communication and project management skills, with experience working cross-functionally across Product, Legal, and Operations.

  • Familiarity with compliance automation and tooling (e.g., GRC tools, Notebook LM, or custom-built dashboards).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with an eye for both risk and scalability.

Nice to have:

  • Experience working on regulatory submissions (e.g., RPAA registration, Visa program changes).

  • Familiarity with internal governance programs and audit workflows.

  • Background in launching new fintech products or payment rails.

  • Experience working with processor platforms or integrations.
