As the manager for the Big Data Query Platform team at Pinterest, you'll lead a team of talented engineers to work on the big data query processing systems that enable users to analyze data, extract insights and build product features. You’ll have the opportunity to work closely with other engineering teams to help them move fast and build awesome features rapidly on top of your systems. You’ll also have the opportunity to work closely with other backend teams in the data engineering org to evolve our big data architecture to the next level. This is a unique opportunity to build a mission-critical capability at Pinterest enabling thousands of users to run millions of queries every month on an exabyte scale data warehouse. 

 

What you’ll do:

  • Lead a talented team that owns the big data query platform

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand changing requirements and incorporate them in the roadmap

  • Own and drive the vision for big data query products and platforms

 

What we’re looking for:

  • 2+ years of Engineering Manager experience

  • Enjoying working in an agile environment

  • Solid knowledge in distributed systems

  • Good understanding of algorithm and data structures

  • Experience building and operating platforms with Spark, Spark SQL, Trino, Parquet and Iceberg

  • Experience with the overall big data ecosystem, e.g. Datahub, YARN, Kubernetes, HDFS, Flink, Kafka, is a plus
