As we continue to scale our Local business, we are seeking a Manager, Brand Strategy to support revenue growth through high-quality proposal execution, strong narrative development, and deep Local market fluency. This role is responsible for translating brand strategy into compelling, revenue-driving Local solutions.

Why it matters: Reporting to the Senior Director, Brand Strategy, the Manager, Brand Strategy plays a critical execution role within the revenue organization.

Go deeper: The Manager operates within defined strategic frameworks and guardrails set by the Senior Director. This role focuses on executing Local proposals, applying proactive data storytelling effectively, and building repeatable insights across Local verticals.

  • Local market specialization:

    • Build deep familiarity with key Local verticals, advertiser priorities, and community-specific insights.

    • Identify patterns across Local briefs and surface emerging opportunity areas to the Senior Director.

    • Ensure Local proposals reflect relevant audience behavior, advertiser needs, and regional context.

    • Develop repeatable Local market intelligence to inform proposal work.

  • Strategic proposal development:

    • Partner with Client Partnerships and Partner Marketing to execute customized proposals aligned to client goals and Axios’ Local value proposition.

    • Build clean, well-structured brand strategy slides rooted in proactive data mining and category trends.

    • Execute within established positioning frameworks; escalate narrative risk or major strategic shifts to the Senior Director.

    • Independently and collaboratively ideate on creative concepts that set Axios and its clients apart in the market. 

    • Support mid- to large-scale RFP responses.

  • Client and cross-functional collaboration:

    • Participate in intake calls and client discussions with support from the Senior Director.

    • Contribute ideas and recommendations grounded in Local context.

    • Collaborate closely with Client Partnerships, Partner Marketing, Axios Creative House, Axios Live, and Intelligence teams to ensure feasibility and alignment.

    • Proactively share work in progress and align stakeholders early to reduce downstream friction.

The details: Ideal candidates will:

  • Have 5+ years of experience in brand strategy, integrated marketing, media, or advertising

  • Demonstrate strong narrative building and strategic writing skills

  • Have experience responding to mid- to large-scale RFPs

  • Show developing fluency in media, advertising, and Local market dynamics

  • Be highly organized and able to manage multiple concurrent proposals

  • Demonstrate curiosity and a proactive approach to learning about the industry

  • Thrive in collaborative environments and be receptive to feedback

Starting salary for this role is in the range of $75,000 - $95,000 and is dependent on numerous factors, including but not limited to location, work experience, and skills. This range does not include other compensation benefits. Axios' compensation philosophy takes into account the cost of labor differentials across the country. Because this is a remote-optional job posting, this salary range takes into account all possible locations within the United States, but candidates will only be eligible for the salary range for their location.
