About the Team and Role:

We’re looking for an experienced legal operations leader to uplevel the way our small but mighty legal team functions. In this high-impact role, you’ll own the design and rollout of core legal processes, systems, and metrics that improve how we manage risk, support growth, and partner with the business using AI and other innovative technology solutions. You will bring specialized experience in strategizing on and delivering regulatory product solutions using operational best practices. You’ll work closely with legal and cross-functional partners – including product, engineering, security, HR, finance, and others – to streamline how work gets done, support key work streams, implement data-driven decision-making, and ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual obligations. You will lead with influence, build structure through ambiguity, and deliver innovative and scalable, technically advanced solutions. This role is ideal for a strategic thinker who knows how to harness legal operations to enable business growth and risk management.

Responsibilities:

• Translate emerging regulatory trends into actionable business executions across Quora and Poe platforms

• Build and manage scalable regulatory compliance programs across multiple jurisdictions, including developing risk assessments, roadmaps, and tracking timelines

• Effectively communicate regulatory insights through guidelines, FAQs, procedures, tutorials, presentations, and training

• Partner with cross-functional technical partners to design systems and AI tooling that enable proactive, automated compliance solutions

• Help influence cross-functional roadmaps and corporate strategy through deep expertise in regulatory frameworks

• Design, implement and scale a variety of innovative legal policies, processes and playbooks to streamline work flows, enable the business, and enhance the legal team’s productivity and impact leveraging AI

• Build and improve AI based contract automation and related work flows to streamline contract lifecycle management; draft and negotiate commercial contracts under attorney supervision

• Project manage litigation timelines and deliverables

• Manage legal vendors and support outside counsel billing, budgeting, and cost optimization

• Create and maintain mature information management processes for storing and organizing critical legal documents and data

Minimum Requirements:

• Availability for meetings and impromptu communication during Quora's “coordination hours' (Mon-Fri: 9am-3pm Pacific Time)

• 8-10+ years of progressive experience in legal operations, regulatory operations, product/legal policy compliance, program management, consulting, or business operations experience with at least 3 years in legal department operations in dynamic environments

• Proven experience designing, implementing, and scaling legal policies, processes, playbooks, technology workflows, and governance frameworks

• Experience navigating complex regulatory environments

• Strong project management skills and demonstrated experience designing, operationalizing and updating large scale regulatory compliance workstreams

• Strong technology aptitude and experience with: project management tools, database management, and legal technology, including AI focused tools, contract lifecycle management systems, legal research applications, and workflow platforms

• Experience building and scaling contract and procurement processes

Preferred Requirements:

• Experience negotiating, drafting, and advising clients on commercial contracts

• Experience working with global technology companies

• Experience supporting litigation, including filings and submissions

• Familiarity with regulatory requirements applicable to online platforms, marketplaces, social media, and AI products

• Experience program managing SOC2 compliance efforts

There are many factors that will determine the starting pay, including but not limited to experience, location, education, and business needs.

• US candidates only: For US based applicants, the salary range is $172,800 - $236,246 USD + equity + benefits.

• Canada candidates only: For Toronto and Vancouver based applicants, the salary range is $226,616 - $247,857 CAD + equity + benefits. For all other locations in Canada, the salary range is $211,508 - $231,333 CAD + equity + benefits.
